The good news for Florida fans this morning is that Tim Tebow has been released from the hospital following the big-time hit laid on him by Taylor Wyndham. However, as the Orlando Sentinel’s George Diaz says (and as a number of my Gator friends have said), Urban Meyer better be ready to answer a very pressing question: Why was Tim Tebow even in the game? At the point that he concussed himself on his lineman’s knee, the Gators were sticking to a 31-7 lead on a team that had no prayer of scoring 31. It was nearing the end of the third quarter. And, of course, the face of college football had been suffering from a respiratory illness anyway.
So, why wasn’t it Brantley time yet? It’s tough to say – and I’m sure Meyer won’t have any sort of groundbreaking answer at this week’s press conferences. But, it might be safe to say that the next time the Gators have put one away, Meyer might be a little quicker to pull the hook on the guy who had Meyer’s “legs shaking” because “he’s like my son” while he was motionless on the Commonwealth turf.
