Teague Decision Delayed, Dukies Get it Wrong, Latavious Decides and More…

First off, I just wanna give a little plug to Matt’s show which starts back up again tonight. For those that don’t know, I’m currently living in Cincy so I have to watch the show online most of the time but I’m back in “Da Ville” visiting my parents right now so I’m thoroughly excited about the opportunity to get to watch the show on a screen that is bigger than 5 x 5 inches. The Kige segment was legendary and if you missed that one make sure you don’t miss anymore because I’m sure there’s more great shows to come.  Ok, I’m done brown-nosing for now.

A few situations unfolded since my last post so I thought I should give a little recruiting update to keep everybody up to speed:

–  Shawn Teague, father of Marquis Teague, spoke with InsidetheVille.com and told them that Marquis will now push his decision date back until around the end of July.  He also said that Kentucky has yet to offer Marquis and I got the feeling he was downplaying UK’s involvement with Teague a little bit. In my opinion, the pushing back of the decision date is a huge plus for UK for two reasons. First, UK was late getting in on Marquis because of the coaching changes and need to play a little catch up. Second, giving Cal all of the month of July will allow him to make personal face to face contact with Marquis on a few different occasions as the coaching contact period opens back up.

–  Aaron gave a link to an article yesterday by a Duke site that claimed that UK was out of the CJ Leslie running. That site took Leslie’s comments out of context and made an incorrect conclusion. CJ was asked which ACC schools were recruiting him and he answered that all of them were except for Duke. The Duke site took just the answer and made it seem that only all the ACC schools but Duke were in the running for CJ. That was incorrect and as I mentioned in the comments CJ has talked about how much he liked both Cal and UK as recent as early May. A Scout article posted today only reaffirms this point as CJ lists Florida, Kentucky and Memphis among the schools on his list.

–  Noel Johnson, Scout’s #13 ranked SG, received his release from controversy plagued USC. His father, a former NBA player, said his decision will come very quickly this time. Florida, Georgia, Louisville and Memphis were among the finalists last time that may be of interest to us as UK fans. I’d expect Donovan to turn up the heat because of his spring time recruiting whiffs.

–  Latavious Williams made his decision today and decided that he will attend Memphis.  Since it is after the signing period he will simply sign scholarship papers which are binding only upon the school. Therefore, nothing is really settled until he arrives on campus and suits up for the Tigers.  This marks Josh Pastner’s first commitment as head coach at Memphis.

I enjoy basketball, Kentucky sports and extremely short walks on the beach, followed by a nap. Sorry ladies, I'm taken.
