Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Sunday Morning Links

-Last night, we learned that Florida State’s Mark Stoops had been interviewed by Kentucky according to CBS Sports’ anonymous source.  Like most other coordinators he has always wanted to take the next step up.

-Former Wildcats, Daniel Orton and DeAndre Liggins have been assigned to play for the Inland Empire 66ers.  The two have combined to play for a total of 13 minutes this season.

-NFL.com wrote a piece on the two most important Green Bay Packers.  The most important was of course Aaron Rodgers, but the second most important was no other than Randall Cobb.

-MLive.com contributer, David Mayo, seems to think that if the Pistons are to turn it around this season it all lies on two players improving, Will Bynum and Brandon Knight.

-Potential Kentucky Football Coach, Sonny Dykes, spoke with KTBS.com on having his name brought up in numerous coaching searches.  The video shares what he has been going through over the past few weeks.

I know a lot of people want to look back and appreciate the last 3 years if Joker but I can’t help but believe that the Harrow situation isn’t more important than the wasted 3 years joker gave us. I mean after all we are relevant in basketball and having Harrow could be the difference if sweet 16 vs final four.

    With that said

    Any Harrow News??????????????????????????????????

Not sure if Harrow is on the end of all the twitting coming from @12Harrow, but it appears all this drama is surrounding a relationship! Confused as to why he would waste time speaking ‘truth’ as his followers call it about loyalty and commitment, yet he appears to be neglecting those same responsibilities for his team, teammates, university, etc…really hope a relationship isn’t the issue!!

Cal could care less if Harrow leaves.
He just said he will have to fight to get
    his old position back.
If Cal doesn’t care, why should we?
Goodwin can do it, with Mays.

  24. Cupidcantball

@22, I’m glad to hear it. Just really baffled why administration isn’t communicating more clearly. As fans we hear all the time about student athletes dealing with death, illness, injury, criminal issues, etc…why can’t we know if the kid is done for the year or will return without speculation? How much of this falls on Mitch?

  25. RealCatsFan
    11:31 am November 25, 2012 Permalink

23, Cal never said he doesn’t care if Harrow leaves – in fact, he said the team needs him very badly, as short as their rotation is. He did say that he will have to work his way back up in the rotation, which is fair. If you saw Goodwin go down with a minor ankle sprain and a leg cramp the past two games, then it should be obvious how tenuous this season’s success can be in light of a key injury. If Goodwin or Mays gets hurt, will you still be saying the same thing?

Barnhart talks like does now because he knows there is zero chance Eli Capilouto will fire him. Aside from Barnhart’s multi-year contract (which Lee Todd is to blame), Capilouto has absolutely no interest in the athletic programs. The only hope is that members of the Board of Trustees will step in and salvage the situation.

Goodwin will be better than Harrow, give him time. If a relationship is why Harrow is not here than he’s soft, forget him.

Mitch met with Butch Jones this morning in Newport and an announcement will come by Wednesday. Butch Jones will be the next coach at UK and the details are being ironed out as i type this.

#28 I like Jones or Stoops as the coach. I like 95% of everyone else would love to take a chance on BP but understand that’s not going to happen. Honestly either of these two guys and countless others would be a vast improvement over what we have had the last three years so I’m looking at it on the bright side.

I can’t believe how delusional some UK fans are about Mitch Barnhart. He is the best AD UK has ever had and that is not lost of the Board of Trustees. I don’t care what your cousin who dates a Trustee’s nephew says. He has the complete confidence of everyone in the administration. His job is very secure regardless of the loud minority of fans who believes otherwise. Several schools have tried to hire him away from UK and he would be in immediate demand if he chose to leave. He will leave at some point on his own terms but has stated it won’t be until football is fixed. If you think 95% of uk fans want BP you are hanging around with the wrong people and don’t have an accurate sample.

  33. markp
    1:06 pm November 25, 2012 Permalink

32 that’s not saying much. Mitch has been better than Hagan and Newton, but they were very mediocre. The next football hire will decide his legacy, but right now it’s shaky in the two big sports.

Agree with #9… Not 28) Butch Jones is a joke. I encourage all UK fans to stay away until we get a real AD. Mith has NOT been better that Hagan or Newton. He’s just been another step towards mediocrity. Anyone would have hired Cal….Mitch just missed the first time. Anyone in their right mind would hire Petrino. He’s the best coach available. Morality does not a good football coach make. No problems with NCAA. If all coaches who have slept with coeds would come forward you would be shocked. All you guys who like coaches like Dykes and Jones get ready for 6-6 or 7-5. YOu guys would make good Indiana fans. How bout 8-4 or 9-3?….Then hire Petrino

  36. Tej
    1:42 pm November 25, 2012 Permalink

The issue with BP is not morality but the relationship he has had with players and administrators and the lack of loyalty to the teams he has coached. Any AD and school would demand loyalty to its program and Petrino has shown a lack of that attribute in his past. If he is as desirable as some think, Auburn, UT or other schools needing a coach would be at his doorstep. Nothing says that is the case. There are a lot of very good coaches out there including Dykes, Jones, and Stoops. Let Barnhart do his job.

It is stupid to say stay away and not to support team. I say these are bandwagon fans not real fans! I will support who ever is our coach.

  38. Chuck
    2:24 pm November 25, 2012 Permalink

The fans will be in the seats at the beginning of next year and will be supporting the new coach and will continue the support as long as a) the team is successful. b) the team is exciting, especially on offense. When it becomes apparent that things are not going well that’s when the fans will stop supporting the team. I know that sounds obvious but the process which usually takes years for a normal fan base to gauge a new coaches success is hastened by the rabid fan base of the BBN and I have to believe Barnhart knows this and even though he says publicly that he’s not looking for a quick fix deep down he knows that’s what we, and he needs.

you had one job: post links.

tell me how you could mess up a copy paste so badly as to report that liggins and orton are now playing on a minor league baseball team in southern california. i’m really interested in how that’s possible. did you even read the article you linked to? it mentions the word “tulsa” a few times but never once “inland empire.” or are you ksr new kids just too lazy to actually read anything? you probably googled “orton liggins”, saw the title of the article, copied the link, realized you didn’t know what the 66ers were, so you googled that – failing to notice that the inland empire 66ers are a baseball team.

    nice work.
