Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Sunday Morning Links

Yesterday, Kentucky Speedway held its inaugural Sprint Cup race, with Kyle Busch winning after 400-miles.  Are you guys big NASCAR fans?  The KSR compound is only allowed to put races featuring Derrike Cope on the tv.

– Speaking of the race, the Quaker State 400 drew over 100,000 folks, causing insane traffic, drunken havock, and many a chest to be freed from the constraints of shirts.  THIS.  IS.  SPARTA!

– One final race note – some say NASCAR took a risk with the race because the Kentucky Speedway doesn’t have enough safety barriers.

– Okay, I don’t like racing either so let’s move on to basketball – Anthony Davis is ready to destroy people next year, and Jared Sullinger had this to say about him:

“(Davis) is going to be good,” Sullinger told reporters. “He’s not as strong as he needs to be, but he’s strong enough to keep you honest. … It should be special for him this year.”

– Another article discusses the idea of pay-for-play in college athletics, using Calipari as an example with his ideas of providing living expenses for players..  Where do you guys stand on the issue?

– The University of Kentucky morgue got rid of an unclaimed body yesterday.  UK fans clamored to see if it was Jerry Tipton, but then they realized he’s posting 30 blogs a day about recruiting so it couldn’t be him. [disclaimer – merely a joke, KSR does not wish death on anyone, not even Tipton.  We only expect the death of his writing career to be imminent.]

– NBC made this fail:

I wish I could hate on Sullinger but I can’t, he seems like a stand up guy with a great head on his shoulders. I’m really concerned about our interior play for next year. I think UNC and Ohio St. will get us back next year if we meet them in the tournament. We need Andre Drummond or another big out of nowhere for this year, but I just don’t see it happening.

A sight to behold last night at Drake’s in Louisville: Amongst all the cougars, was Pat Forde, in his finest purple shirt, having a friendly conversation with Scott Padgett. Forde trying to get back in with the UK family?

In other words Sullinger thinks Davis isn’t a Jorts.

    8) Epic insight there. Please explain to us simple folk how we can lose to BOTH OSU and UNC in the tourney.

Nothing more boring than watching cars go around a track hundreds of times. Then to make things even more pathetic they try and boost their popularity by letting an average looking woman with no racing skills race with them. Of course in the redneck NASCAR world she’s hot. #lowstandards

The entire thing was a joke yesterday. We left Lexington at one yesterday (race started at 7:30), and didn’t finish parking until well past 8. It took 3 hours to simply get back on the interstate after the conclusion of the race. Race was fun, but not close to being worth the effort put forth getting to and from. (Yeah I know I’m a redneck.)

NASCAR would be cool if UK could sponsor a car. Would love to see a blue and white car with a big UK on it.

Don’t know about safety barriers but parking is atrocious. I 71 going north was a parking lot from south of Carrolton at 5 PM. They need to figure things out if they want it to be a long term success!

Yeah #5 you are too high class to say Suck It. I guess you would have said “You may suckle from my teet” you snooty aristocrat.
