Sunday Morning Block Links

This picture is crazy. Let’s do links with a gracious helping of UK-UNC:

– Sporting News has a recap of the game with special attention to the maturation process by the young players that we witnessed as the game entered crunch time. John Calipari was very pleased with the team’s effort.

– Next up is an ESPN 3-pack: the worldwide leader’s main recap talks about how special this game was. It’s not everyday that a marquee game lives up to its billing, but this was one did. What’s even more impressive is that there seemed to be no way this game could have matched the hype because of the way it was talked about and analyzed. Even UNC dropping in the polls did little to diminish the excitement surrounding it.

– In addition, ESPN talks about how dumb North Carolina was for not fouling with thoughts from Kendall Marshall on why the Heels were so “surprised”. Plus, a general game wrap up.

– UK quarterback of the future, Patrick Towles, led his Highlands team to their fifth consecutive state title yesterday. They beat Joker Phillips’ high school, Franklin-Simpson.

– In more football news, Mark Story at the Herald Leader caught up with Matt Roark one week after the greatest day of his football career.

UK Hoops takes on Louisville today at 1 p.m. in a sold out Memorial Coliseum. Both teams are ranked in the top 12 and it should be a good warm up win before the girls beat Duke in Rupp Arena.

Could you imagine how hyped up a Duke/UNC national championship game would be? It could be 3 time rematch(two reg season plus ACC tourny)…but, a AL-LSU rematch is poo pooed. SEC football rulz, best two teams are playing for the title, get over it. It’s a hell of alot better than Butler in the championship game two years in a row.

Just watched Sportscenter from 9-10am and was waiting to see the UK-UNC highlights. Nope. Not even a mention. ?? How can that game not be on sportscenter highlights?

Still loved the way our team played yesterday in a big-game environment. This team is special. Terrence Jones is my guy so far. Hide your Loservilles, hide your Volunqueers, he’s dunkin’ on er’body up in here.

Great team effort by UK yesterday, but still room for individual improvement from almost every player, which I think is good, since this game was in December not March.

On the local news last night not even a ticker at the bottom of the screen on the UK game yesterday. I love it when a team comes from behind to beat a Hoosier team like Xavier did yesterday with Purdue.
On a bright note, 3 calls from (crawling out of the woodwork now) of Hoosier fans telling me how much the guys in the clown warm-ups are going to beat UK next Saturday …..How does this work? We beat the team with one Zeller who absolutely got away with walking, over the back, and just flat out throwing elbows to anyone wearing white, to beating the hell out of his younger sibling the very next Saturday……The Zeller family will have nightmares about “THE BROW” all year long!

I’m surprised that no columnist mentions that Teague traveled (or almost traveled) with 1 second left.

Hate to give him credit but Dickie Vee called it on Thursday. He predicted a UK win 74-71. How crazy is that?

What a great game! Both teams played like final four teams! But UK is only going to get better, while UNC can’t play much better. This could be the year Coach Cal get his championship. “I like my team!”

My mouth flew open when Oscar Combs, in the pregame show, predicted NC to win the game. He is not often wrong but I am so glad this time he missed the mark. It was a great game and UK remains #1 and the Rupp win streak stands. Most importantly, to me, Coach Cal is teaching these high school stars to play like a team–this team can be very special if they learn to be a team. If that happens UK will hang a banner in April. Sit back and enjoy the ride BBN!

I love to look at the expressions on the faces of fans in the background of pictures like this. Look at their body language. It’s hilarious! Hands clasped as if praying to God; faces contorted like they are in actual pain. One girl has a hand full of her hair. I love it.

    BBN you’re the best!!
