Stoops won’t coach in FSU’s Bowl Game

ESPN reports that Mark Stoops will not coach in Florida State’s bowl game. After tonight’s ACC Championship game, Stoops will head to Lexington for good. This means there won’t be any distractions while Stoops gets a staff together and recruits players. This is great news and a good start to the new era of Kentucky Football.

Oh why are you sooooo excited? Stoops can’t win, no one can…he’ll just continue our misery, with his inability to recruit top-notch players and his OC doesn’t even call plays! It’ll just be more bubble screens…….

So if he is coming to lex for good after the ACC Championship what about Coley? Do we think he is going to coach the bowl? Would love to #BBN get our claws into him and pull him over. If we can’t lock him in who is the favorite to be the OC and DC???

I am glad he will be getting to work for us, but I wanting him to be there to help to the $hit out of Louisville.

Wonder if Stoops coming to Lexington will at least play a little part in Strong wanting to vacate Louisville. My guess that it will because he will now have a lot more competition on the recruiting front.

Our team even lacks an OC…can’t have a complete team without one…I really don’t see that much difference between today and the week of Tennessee…..*SIGH*

I would assume that Coley and Eliott will still coach the bowl game, would be tough to lose your OC, DC and D Line coach all at once before a bowl game. They can manage the bowl game with Eliott filling in for Stoops. However, this doesn’t mean that Coley and Eliott won’t be working for UK already and using their time down at FSU to sway kids over to UK.

Should we be concerned, if Fisher leaves FSU, that we will have a similar thing to when UK lost Josh Pastner to Memphis? I wouldn’t be surprised if FSU tries to keep Coley as the head coach if Fisher takes another job.

It could be that they are all leaving because of a pending NCAA investigation…we could be hiring nothing but Tressel’s.

Sorry couldn’t help it…I mean there’s always a litany of posting like what I just put up…no one can win, he can’t recruit like that for UK, everyone is leaving FSU, there must be a problem…I am amazed at how negative some folks can be.

It’s true, UK isn’t FSU in reputation, climate, or record but let’s give it three years before we all put on our Marvin the Robot/Eeyore hats.

#12- there is NO chance of Coley being hired as head coach. FSU is a big time program and can get a much bigger name.

It may be that jimbo fisher is going to UT. Ever thought about that. Ad from ut is buddies with jimbo from his time at fsu. Question is if fisher goes to ut will he take coley with him to ut or does coley get promoted to head coach. Joe has crabs!!!!

FSU cannot afford to take a chance on Coley as HC. If UT hires Fisher, Coley may go there as the HR.

The sarcasm is strong with you Joe and you’re right from your last remark.

#12 I don’t see Coley having a chance for the fact he hasn’t been the true O coordinator his time there, it’s been Jimbo making the calls with Coley regulated to recruiting primarily (from what I’ve read). I would think FSU would hire a proven name in order to help calm the Chicken Little syndrome that their fan base will go through if the whole coaching staff implodes

The Florida State fanbase has very little patience and wants to get back to the succes it had previous with Bowden. Many fans are not sold on Fisher. The season did not go as well as most belived it should and so the heat is on under intense pressure to win. That is why the coaching staff is imploding.

He would just be hurting himself by staying another month in Florida. He can get right to work now. The troll Joe is just having fun with you guys and is jerking his little thing in excitement every time we reply back to him. His mom will catch him and put him in time out soon enough.

Gonna really suck for them if he gets everyone he wants from FSU’s staff (at least 2 people). Presumably they’d come too and miss the bowl game. What if Fisher bails for another job, too? Would be amazingly awful if most of the coaching staff took other jobs before the bowl game.

I get it. I know why coaches do this but I still don’t like it at all. Brian Kelly did it to UC and countless others have but where’s the commitment. I’d rather he stayed and fulfilled his commitment to his players for this year than run off. There’s time enough to do both: coach the bowl game and start recruiting using the phone and prioritized targets. It’s just not right but it’s the way it is.

Most coaches don’t coach the bowl game of their old team when they are hired by a new team. This really shouldn’t be such a surprise. The only way Coley would stay at FSU for the bowl game is if Fisher left and the AD made him temporary HC just for the bowl game.

    28) Actually there really isn’t time. That’s the problem with recruiting periods in both the major sports, though with basketball the problem refers more to the NBA deadline. (If you play longer, you have less time to focus on workouts and decide if you want to go to the NBA, and your coach has less time to recruit a replacement for you if you go.) If your team does well, you’re still playing, and your coaches are in demand. (Teams with losing records may have good coordinators worth hiring, but most people aren’t rushing out to get their coaches, so the targets are still coaching.) Schools without a coach aren’t going to be able to recruit well (you want Barnhart sitting in their living rooms?). Also, there is a degree of lame duck at their old school, anyway, where their players and fellow coaches know they’re leaving. And you want them splitting their attention? Which is better, your coach trying to do 2 jobs at once or someone else coming in and focusing on you 100%, even if they’re not familiar? It’s a hard choice.

The system does suck, but if we waited til all our targets were done coaching (especially including NFL), we’d be crippled recruiting for next year if we assume the previous coach’s recruits may not fit the system and some may decommit.

In a way though, I get what Joe was trying to get at. The internet era has given the most negative people an outlet without having to face any repercussions for the crap they spew. I’ve seen it on blogs everywhere and it kind of sucks and often kills good conversation. There are things said that all I can think of is that person would have gotten punched in a bar for saying that. Posting gives the cowardly and negative a way to voice their opinions more than ever, worse yet, many of them don’t have lives and so post 10 to 20 times more than most of us with actual jobs and families ever could and sometimes under different names making it look like there are more people sharing their view than there actually are.

I say ignore 90% of what you read in posts.
