Stoops & Co. Bring Ohio To Visit Lexington

Vince Marrow the new TE Coach is using his pull in Lexington already, as 4-star WR Shelton Gibson from University Heights, OH was on hand this weekend to check out what Kentucky has to offer. Standing at 6’1, 190lbs., Gibson runs a 4.42 40-yard dash and is ranked as the 18th best WR in the nation, and the 4th best player in Ohio. Not impressed? Gibson also holds offers West Virginia, Louisville, Ohio State, and Nebraska among others. Watch him do work:

3-Star OT/DL Lovell Peterson from Huber Heights, OH is also wrapping up his official visit to Kentucky today, and by most reports I’ve seen, the ‘Cats stand a pretty good chance of landing one of the best players in Ohio.

The 6’3 270lb. lineman picked up an offer from Kentucky early this weekend and is ranked by Scout.com as the 6th best Center in the country, and the 19th best overall player in the state of Ohio. Lovell also plays Defensive Tackle and is ranked as the 36th best DT in the nation by Rivals. Peterson has been shown interest by the likes of Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State, and has also picked up offers from Ohio, West Virginia, and Illinois.

Good to see “STOOOOOPS” doing work on the recruiting trail, especially in Ohio where high school football talent is abundant and previously untapped by Kentucky. Look for many more reports like this in the coming weeks, with Vince Marrow and Stoops on staff Ohio will be a fertile recruiting ground for the Wildcats.

I love that Stoops is going after Ohio high school recruits, but I am worried we are a year too late to get top level talent out of Ohio. After a 12-0 season, the whole state is under Urban Meyer Mania. I am hopeful that we can get the recruits, but until we get a few signed, he optimism will be highly tempered.

STOOOOPPSSSSSSSS! Would love to get this guy, or quick to go along with timmons. All are phenomenal athletes that should be difference makers from day 1. With smith back there slinging it around in the new offense the future looks great. Also heard from a source that the coaches believe towles will ultimately transfer

I am a fan of towels too. Air-drying takes too long.

5, not a chance. His dad will get in his way. I’ve seen it too many times with decent athletics. College coaches can’t stand players parents trying to insert themselves and coaches certainly don’t like parents threatening to get what they want

I love all the excitement for the UK football team. Maybe this time we can turn it around in a big way.

    5) bc max smith will be the starter as the staff will likely try to redshirt towles next year like he should’ve been this year. It was foolish of Joker to waste his redshirt as late in the season as he did, especially after he had a chance to get medically redshirted due to his injury.

I love it!! Finally a coaching staff that has no problems going toe to toe against bigger programs and selling the UK brand. I believe in Mark Stoops

Regarding Vince Marrow, anytime UK gets a visit from a 4 star in football it is huge. We hardly ever sign anyone above a 3 star.

alright, lets double the coaches’ salaries and award them bonuses for getting ohio kids to visit. espn love us on its ‘visit tracker’ page. woohoo. joker got lots of 3/4 star visitors to come to rupp and get a free meal too. call me when they commit, then when they sign and again if they actually perform in the sec

A “visit” is not a signed player…let’s wait until Stoops actually inks a 4 star before we light the fireworks and dome the stadium.

@3… Speaking of Urben Meyer he was down here at the Georgia dome yesterday watching some of the state finals. I know Meyer was watching a recruit he’s been after that was playing in the AAAA final. I think Stoops can eventually get some good players out of Ohio. Ohio is a lot like Georgia. There is enough recruits in Georgia that UGA and Ga Tech would have to field two teams if they could sign them all. I would think that Ohio St is same way in the fact that there is so much talent in Ohio that the Buckeyes can’t take them all.

13 ………call after they perform in the SEC, after they win the Sugar Bowl for UK, after they get drafted 1st round, win the Super Bowl, after they make All Pro, get inducted into the Hall of Fame……that what it take to convince you its meaningful to have these guys visit? assume you are a self appointed expert……

#13 Joker got Braxton Miller to visit…. Also OSU cant take all the talent in Ohio you are correct so Mich St, Mich, Penn St, Wisconsin takes the left overs. Those are the schools we need to beat out for players
