Still waiting to hear from Collins and Tandy…

Kentucky still has two targets out there with unsigned letters of intent.  Two wide receivers, Daryl Collins and Bubba Tandy have not announced their decisions but both are expected to pick Kentucky.

— There have been conflicting reports on Daryl Collins. Rivals and Scout both reported Daryl Collins signing with Alabama earlier this week but others say Collins committed to Kentucky during his visit over the weekend.  Collins originally committed to Bama in 2008 but backed out when the Tide asked him to grey shirt.  The three-star wide receiver loves Alabama but wants to be on the field immediately.

— Bubba Tandy is picking between Kentucky and Marshall.  Kentucky is selling Tandy on being a Randall Cobb like player but may ask him to grey shirt.  Marshall is hoping to use Tandy on defense and as a kick returner.

Tee Martin says there is one more surprise today. That would have to be Collins switching from Bama to Kentucky, right?

A surprise would be UK getting a 5 star. Anything else is par for the course (3 star).

We aren’t even listed in the top 50 classes on Rivals.

I feel pretty salty seeing Tardville up at #27.

Is it just me or does anyone else on here believe Coach Cal is a heck of a recruiter, but mediocre at best coach.

I think the surprise could be about Dawson! I heard a few people say they never seen him sign anything! So maybe the Cats have an outside shot!!

Will we ever be able to keep good talents in basketball more than one year? Maybe we need a coach who recruits players that want a banner and to better the program of their school. The only thing on Jones’ and Lambs’ mind is the money they will get in the NBA.

Also, a coach who wants to coach for a championship, not just get the top recruiting class.

    5. – “A mediocre coach at best” doesn’t go into two consecutive seasons with 3 out of 5 starters as freshmen (Bledsoe, Wall & Cousins in 2010, Knight, Jones & Lamb) being the majority of your team and still win immediately. Yes we’ve lost some games we’d like to win, but there’s definitely great potential in this team, and I’m confident that our very good coach will eventually get them to play the way he expects them to play. Geez, it’s asinine how quickly some people jump off the bandwagon. Who here wants to go back to Tubby or Billy G? Get over yourselves and understand that some teams have growing pains. This would be an entirely different team if we had a legitimate post presence, which Coach Cal had in Enes Kanter.

So, the Joker era has been a huge disappointment thus far, with 2 big failed opportunities.

    1) A chance for a very good season, with a talented team and a favorable schedule. Had a legitimate chance at a 8 or 9 win regular season. FAIL

    2) A chance at a top 25 recruiting class, with some high level in state talent along with some early commits from some good out of state talent, following a very successful stretch of years for the team. All on top of the “buzz” created by the Joker hire. FAIL

Hope Tee has big news, I agree replacing a 4 star w/ another 3 star isn’t going to shock the BBN.

Louisville being listed at #27 is directly tied to Strong’s recent departure from Florida. All but one of his 4 stars are from Florida, two are from Northwestern high and two are from Southridge high. In fact, 12 of his 19 signees are from Florida, I’m sure from his previous recruiting contacts while he was coaching there. If he can maintain that kind of recruiting out of Florida they’re going to be tough for a lot of teams to beat, but I’ll be surprised if he can continue to get that many recruits to come to Ky from Fl.

#5 when have you seen a “bad” coach go 35 and 3 in there first year at a program?? And let me remind you he achieved that record with 3 freshmen starting all year!!! So no coach cal is not a bad coach!

    18. I could coach 5 pro basketball players and take them to the Elite 8 and a 35-3 record in a bad conference.. It’s not that tough.

Now do the John Wall!!! Oh yeah, crank that mustard Big Cuz.. Get ish right ova herrrrrrrrrrr.

I’m sure you could dumb ass! I mean coach cal done that last year without even running the DD so that should go to show he’s a he’ll of a coach!!

    10) And what other way would a coach accomplish getting a championship if not by getting the top recruiting class? These top recruiting classes are going to get you a championship. And if you were 19 years old with the chance to make the money that Jones and Lamb have the opportunity for, you’d have it on your mind also. I’m sure they don’t get any more enjoyment out of a loss than you do.

Blue Mike) I am just concerned that when you only recruit the most talented players, you lose most of the players with the heart to stay and succeed. One-and-done, 9/10 times, wont get you to a final four. We need commitments, not people walking on the bridge to the NBA. Don’t you get tired of hearing every sports analyst saying “This team is good, but young?”

Why are you guys talking about Coach Cal on a football board? He is a great coach and had a freak 1-and-done class last season. We are extremely short this season because Orton was not suppose to be a 1-and-done, and Kanter was thought to get some kind of eligibility. Before last season Cal only had 2 one-and-dones (Evans and Rose), and it will not continue because we will continue to have ridiculously short benches. According to everyone we are going to be having 10 one-and-dones in the future classes (ALL FRESHMEN). TO FUNNY!

Nothing else exciting on this football board unless you’re a Louisville fan. Our older guys are the ones who really let the team down last night. I don’t know that I’d ever put Miller in when the game is on the line. That’s a shot kids dream of! How many of us grew up practicing that shot and in our minds thinking this one wins it all for the Big Blue. My goodness, it was a shot we all wish we had the opportunity to take and he passed on it. Jorts can’t hit a 3 footer. That shot he missed there late in the game where he got the rebound right in front of the basket and then left it short was one of the worst I believe I’ve ever seen. I’d like to see us with some more experienced players but hopefully that will happen in the years to come, otherwise we’re nothing but the training grounds for the NBA.
