Matt, did you pay the royalties on of these songs in the top seven?

  62. Alternate Theory
    10:34 am August 28, 2012 Permalink

Another interpretation of the song I’ve heard is it is about drug use, with the dead flowers referring to opium. Little Susie is a reference to brown eyed susan, another name for heroin. Hence the “take me down little susie” and “I’ll be in the basement with a needle and a spoon”. Ultimately an interpretation could be the song is about losing a friendship to this addiction.

  63. KCK
    10:34 am August 28, 2012 Permalink

Some clarification: I pulled out my Rolling Stones book, and here’s what it had to say about “Dead Flowers”: “Dead Flowers” actually has to do with Keith Richard’s buddy Gram Parsons’ wife sending him flowers while he was in England. By the time they tracked him down, the flowers were, of course, dead. Richards has also made references to the song being about a dealer and his heroin — poppies being the dead flowers and the girl that can take his pain away being his dealer. So, there you go.

  70. Stan

Second, UL does have a significant edge in experience in this game. You can’t replace a trevathian in one year. He was a special player who covered for a lot of faults. UL has the edge in experience at QB, O-line, LB, and safety. UK has the experience edge at special teams. RB,DL,WR, are pushes experience wise. Sorry guys, but UL by 20 this year. I love this song, reminds me of an old diner where my Grandmother was a waitress, the Anchor Grill. On the jukebox my brother would choose Werewolves of London and I would choose Joy to the World from Three Dog Night. They had a little puppet band that would start up and a disco ball would spin.

That is what is great about music, it can soothe a state of mind or rekindle a memory.

The only thing that I worry about is UL being the only undefeated at the end of the season. I still don’t think they would be considered for the NC game over a 1-loss SEC team or USC/FSU team given such a weak SOS, but it makes me cringe thinking about all the media coverage they’ll get in those NC/BCS conversations in that scenario.

I knew your statement couldn’t be true because of what I remember from Earth Science in my freshman year of high school. Agate (you are correct about the pronunciation) is a striated form of quartz. Quartz is all over the place in AZ, my home state. I had a piece of agate I picked up in the mountains near my home town.

So head bussa you think that Williams and Sanders are better options on the ground then Dominic Brown, Wright, and Bridgewater. Lousiville would have more options on the ground then us. If we are unable to throw they will stack the box and we are screwed. With Bridgewater in the backfield for them they can run the option and will kill us. It is a re-occuring theme with UK getting torn to shreds by scrambling QB’s.

152 — It’s not that I think Louisville doesn’t have good running backs or a great running quarterback. I think Louisville has a solid offense, so I would prefer to see them limited in what they could do. You get killed by running QB’s when pass is a viable option, the pass rush comes up empty, and the defense is spread out in pass coverage. If the rain is pouring then it will really come down to how our defensive line and linebackers can plug the rushing lanes while not worrying about pass plays as much. I’m confident we got a decent defensive front and one that can handle a one-dimensional Louisville offense focused on rushing the football. I just think a lot of rain could give us a better chance at winning in that regard.
