Stadium Frame’s Final Four Print Wants Football Practice Notes and Podcast

The celebration is over but it can live on forever inside your home or office with this Final Four print from Stadium Frame. The 34×24 framed photo is matted with coins and features a shot of the Superdome court just after the final buzzer sounded to end Kentucky’s magical 2011-12 season. Go to to purchase the print you see here, or pick out another print or variation of this one from Stadium Frame.

—Drew already relayed the good news that Max Smith threw the ball in practice today. Sanders expects him to be able to play, but he will probably not be 100%. However Max was wearing a knee brace on his left leg, but that was shot down by Sanders saying, “He kind of got rolled up on a bit against Western; it’s not an injured knee or anything like that. A lot of dropback passers have it on their left knee because it’s more exposed.” Even though they down played his shoulder, I’m sure that this is really just a precaution.

—Not only is South Carolina’s defensive line one of the best and most athletic in the country, they also are extremely tall, with most players about 6’5 or 6’4. Max will have to put more air under the ball to keep passes from getting knocked down at the line of scrimmage.

—People may be wondering why they chose to use Jalen Whitlow instead of Pat Towles as the Freshman backup. For the coaching staff it came down to his ability to run the ball. Pat is mobile, but Whitlow provides more options when he is in the game. The more options the better, considering their limited knowledge of the playbook.

Freshman CB Cody Quinn earned his first career start Saturday after the injury to Cartier Rice. His performance was the best by a freshman on defense thus far, and when Rick Minter was asked why he hadn’t played until now, “I guess he just started playing better.” Minter is hopeful that he will continue to contribute, giving Rice and Neloms much needed breaks.

Taylor Wyndham has been playing well on the field, but looks better off it sporting a two month beard. He plans on keeping it through ‘No Shave November’ and eventually plans on having a better mustache than Alan Cutler.

The Dos Equis Man would be jealous.

— On today’s podcast, Matt and Ryan discussed potential football hires and football funding, while Matt wore a Breathe Right nasal strip. Have a listen…

Please i hope your not right on why they are playing whitlow instead of Towles. I hope they are red shirting Towles and if not if i were him i would be leaving. Probably the best quarterback weve had in years and you dont play him becasue Whitlow can out run him.

    A (I think) Legitimate Question:

The reports are that Whitlow and Towles are not taking (very many) snaps in practice, yet everyone says Whitlow is way ahead of Towles to this point… Explain how Whitlow can be seen as “way ahead” if neither can be seen even practicing.

Its pretty sad when you have to lure people in with a basketball picture to get them to read football notes.

I wonder if Patrick Towles can run the option out of an I-bone formation better than Billy Jack Haskins?

The season seems like 4 months long already; yet it’s only been 4 weeks. Time flies when you’re getting drilled.

    15. Let’s check: You do realize that it’s the year 2023, right? Did you miss Morehead State’s 9 National Championships in 11 years to become “the new UCLA”, as ESPN put it? You didn’t sleep through all that, did you?

I guess I did, 17. I thought they were on the verge of greatness when they beat Louisville in the tourney in 2011 and I guess I was right. Just thankful UK didn’t have to play them last year or I guess we wouldn’t have 8. Thank goodness we played Louisville twice instead of Morehead.

Now we know the problem with Pat Towles, it’s Joker’s system. Whitlow is the better runner and fits Joker’s running and short passing game better.

If Joker had went with Towles, he would have to change his system to more of a passing offence. Towles high school coach said that Patric could make all the passes, from the short pass to the deep balls and all in between. That is not Joker’s system.

Remember Curry, Billy Jack, and Couch,

Chris Hatcher from Murray State would be a fun hire. A lot of offense and he coached under Mumme
