Spring football turnout

KSR’s Rashawn Franklin is at the spring football game. Take a look at the place, it’s packed!

Still a half an hour to go, but it doesn’t look like Joker Phillips’ year three is getting off to a very good start.

I’m really ashamed I didn’t find a way to get to this. Our football program seriously needs us as fans right now. Whether I am a fan of Joker or not, I am a die-hard fan of UK; and I really want the football program to get to the next level. Whether or not Joker is or isn’t the coach to get us there is a moot point. We need to rally around this team and do our best to support them. I used to laugh at and scold U of L fans for their lack of attendance at the football games. This is only a Spring game and I hope we are able to sell out for any and all home games, but this is still a very bad sign. I had more fans at my high school football scrimmages. And we REALLY sucked.

@10…first, thank you and your son for being part of the BBN. You are correct, that many uninformed UK basketball fans have unnecessarily slammed the UK football program for years. I am a die hard UK football fan…something that is rare. But, I must be honest with you, Joker has sucked the life out of this program the last 2 years and undone everything that Coach Brooks built. When you combine that with this being a basketball school, well, it leads to disaster. I have had season football tix for YEARS..and I am not renewing this year. This is solely because of the economy AND the fact that I see absolutely nothing on the football field that shows me that Joker will improve any at all. He is simply not a D1 coach at this level. I am truly sorry that your family has to be a part of this mess.

33 – I am no fan of Joker, and I think the program has regressed since he became Head Coach, but to state we were a very solid program under Brooks is to just totally ignore the facts of his career. In seven years, his record against Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee was 2-26! He had an overall losing record and the only reasons for going to bowls was that he was usually 4-0 against the non-conference teams and the SEC had ties to 10 bowls. It was almost impossible NOT to go to a bowl under those conditions.

36 — In my opinion, to act like we weren’t a solid program is just ignoring the facts. We were a very competitive team in nearly every game over the last couple of Brooks’ seasons. We pulled off an upset of the No.1 team and eventual national champion under Brooks. We also had some nice bowl wins, especially a victory over a very talented Clemson team. Also, barely anybody beat Florida during Urban Meyer’s time there. So to bring them up is just unfair. Also, the gap between us and Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee was closing as nearly everyone of our games with them were close under Brooks. So keep dreamin’ if you don’t think we were a solid program under Brooks.

    40. MORE than 110%?? Holy crap, they must be superhuman!! :-O The only control we have as fans to affect the football program is to support/not support it. You can’t honestly tell me that you are happy with the program? By not supporting the football program we beg for change. Why are you all not at the spring game instead of here in the comments section? I’m glad your children are playing here and I will sure be at every game cheering them on, however… Coming here (websites, etc) will only bring you pain.. People are fed up with the program and we expect more… It has nothing to do with your children.. The BBN that they wanted so bad to be part of…. We demand and expect excellence! And of we can’t get excellence, we at least expect effort and improvement…

In return it does not get the support needed in facilities, recruits, coaches, etc that it needs to succeed and compete at an SEC level. I wish the media would bash UK football. Someone needs to take a stand for the fans. IRONY- A quick reminder: Kentucky has had a 57,000+ seat stadium for 40 years now, and was averaging sellouts in it back when your team was struggling to get 15,000 to that sandbox in the fairgrounds. Currently, Kentucky fans are voting with their feet, much like you did when you got Kragthorped. You seem gleeful about that, but if you had more than one brain cell, you’d be a lot happier to see the place full. Borrow another brain cell from one of your comrades and think about that a while.

There are goofballs who are going to make goofy comments. Some think you should win every game in every sport, and that would be nice, but not realistic of course. But the reality is, that the program is going in the wrong direction. It’s not the kids faults, I’m sure they give their all, or I’d at least hope that’s the case. I certainly have nothing against Joker personally, but it is, what it is. The kite just ain’t flying, the boat ain’t floating, the mule ain’t kicking,,well you get the point. I certainly hope I’m wrong when I say this, but I look for this season to be a very, very low point in the program, and changes will come as a result. But in the meantime..Go Big Blue.

I’ve been to quite a few UK football games at Commonwealth and to the Music City Bowl as well.

If UKAA wants people to get hyped at UK Football, they need to field a competitive team. Instead, UKAA fields a perennial loser for a team and a Coach who can’t.

Do you truly expect fans to be upbeat for a season that everyone knows is a train wreck coming? Seriously?

Joker is a joke. I’m tired of morons telling me that I should support Joker simply because he’s the coach. Sure, I wish the guy would be successful. The problem is that the guy doesn’t have a clue as to how to do it.

From what I understand, he spends most of his time chasing trim instead of developing a football team.

There are quite a few football programs out there that are using ingenuity, motivation, strategy to overcome weaknesses. TheJoke doesn’t have a clue how to do any of this. TheJoke simply wants to go with unimaginative football that is simply duplicating the SEC powers strategy. TheJoke does not have the talent to go head to head with Florida, LSU, Bama, Ark. They don’t have the talent to win over the lesser powers of the SEC either. That’s why theJoke scheduled such powers as WKU AND ALMOST GOT BEAT!!! This year, he schedules even weaker. TheJoke knows that he can’t get it done and it shows in his scheduling.

I seriously doubt that UK Football would defeat Trinity or St X in Louisville.

If you are a parent of a UK Football player, make sure he studies. It’s highly unlikely that he’ll be going on to the NFL.

Why even post this and embarrass Big Blue Nation and our players and recruits? Does the editor of this site even care? They did the same thing all last season, with pics of the cat walk, and empty stadiums. Its like they want to give other schools more ammo to make fun of UK. Keep kissing Mitch Barnharts rear end though and telling him how great a job hes doing.

Fact our football team is at the bottom of the SEC and getting passed by historically less programs. This is a fan site and our football sucks. If that hurts your feelings grow up.The fans keep coming tp the games so we do support the program we just aren’t getting a return for our support.Joker earned the chance to be our coach and to this point he has failed.Dont expect others not to have a option because your kid chose to play here.KSR is reporting a well known fact UK football is sucking it up and change is going to happen.

The sad part…there may not be a single player on the team that is saying to themselves, “boy, I sure am glad I decided to play football at Kentucky.”

I’m like some others- why even post this picture? The football program has enough problems without you trying to create even more- VERY CHEAP SHOT

Bashing is deserved. I am/was diehard fan but tired of it. Will not renew season tix this year. Might invest the money in womens basketball or baseball. Football is a joke(r)..
