Sporting News says Kentucky is a 4-seed

SportingNews.com has updated its latest seedings for the field of 68 and the SN has Kentucky as a #4 seed along with North Carolina, Florida, and Louisville.  Duke, Pitt, Ohio State, and Kansas have the top seeds in the Sporting News projections.

An excerpt on the four seeds…

4. North Carolina, Florida (SEC), Kentucky, Louisville. As Florida coach Billy Donovan said during the SEC media teleconference Monday afternoon, “we have obviously a very, very difficult week starting on Thursday.” That’s the day the Gators host Georgia; then they travel to Kentucky for a game against the Wildcats on Saturday. And they’re not sure if senior forward Chandler Parsons will be able to go as he deals with a deep thigh bruise. Win both of those games and the Gators could be in the mix for a No. 3 seed, maybe even a No. 2 spot.

Yeah my first first! And I would be satisfied with a 4-seed I think.

Florida is a joke! First of all, they will not be a 3 seed! They will be exposed this coming week and in the SEC tournament

Win out and Win the SEC Tourney and we get a 3 seed! That is our goal.

At the risk of sounding less than positive #5, if Florida(who I hate BTW)is a joke and they have already beaten us once, what the hell does that make us? I’ll hang up and listen.

We don’t deserve a 3 seed. All of these mercenaries are ruining the reputation of all our forefathers from the hollars.

What do you want to bet that Chandler Parsons will be good and ready to go by the time the Rupp game takes place?

    9 – no doubt

@#7- We will see how good florida is when they come to Rupp. If they are the real deal then they will likely still lose, but in what fashion? If it is close then they are legit, but a double digit loss equals average. Also, the SEC tourny is a nuetral court and we shall see who the better teams are when the playing fields are evened.

#8-Get out of here with that “forefathers from the hollars” junk. This is what college basketball is. Do you want the best of the best on your team or do you want the guys that Tubby and Billy Clyde recruited? Because I’ll tell you who Duke, UNC, Louisville, Kansas and Uconn are going after…the best kids in the country, not John Boy from Hazard.

Quit living in the past dude. You are a flat out joke. If we got guys from “the hollars” we would be terrible and you know it. Do you want a team full of Jon Hoods out there or do you want Wall, Cousins, Knight, Jones, Teauge, Gichrist, etc… JUST SHUT UP!

Does anyone know how many currently ranked teams Duke has played? ONE! and that is UNC after the Tarholes beefed up their record on the lame ACC. Why should they be a #1?

#8 old school, I’m not sure of why you say the things you do, and quite frankly they seem like they come from a vitamin deficiency from pre-natal care. But when a kid puts the uniform of Kentucky on I don’t really care where he was born, because on that day he becomes an Kentuckian. Plain and simple!

If KU and TX meet in the Big 12 title game, and Pitt makes the Big East champ game, along with OSU making the Big Ten title game, I see no way Duke ends up with a 1 seed. Their resume is WEAK this year. Once you put them all side-by-side, which pollsters don’t do, obviously, you’ll see a “2” next to Duke.

21, What the hell? That’s level headed thinking. You should know by now that when that bone headed selection Commitee gets together all rational thought flies right out the window. They’d be scrambling up to see who could get closer to Coach Rat face to see who can give him the first reach around. DUH!

Not only will Duke get a #1 seed, the committee will make damn sure that Sand Diego State or BYU is the #2 seed in their region.

Teams UK needs to keep an eye on (meaning, hope they lose). Ohio State, Duke, Kansas, Texas, and Pitt are exempt (other than hoping Duke loses on principle), as they are probably beyond UK’s range of possible seed.

    ACC- UNC
    Big 12- Texas A&M, Missouri
    Big 10- Purdue, Wisconsin
    Pac 10- Arizona
Big East- Georgetown, Notre Dame, Louisville, Villanova, Syracuse, St. John’s.

Add the 5 teams I mentioned earlier, Florida, plus SDSU and BYU, and you realistically have 20 teams battling for top 4 seeds (and your most likely 1-5 seeds, although I’d guess someone not named gets hot and sneaks in there late). UK has to keep winning, and watch some of those teams knock themselves down in order to get off the 4-5 line, which should be the goal. Best case scenario? Get a 3 seed in a region where San Diego State or BYU is a 2. UK could go as high as a #2, but would definitely have to win out (and might not get it even then). 25-8 and an SEC Tourney title (or maybe just an SEC Tourney final) might get a 3.
