Not to defend him or anything, but my entire family from Michigan kiss on the mouth and think nothing of it. I grew up in Kentucky and my nuclear family didn’t keep the “tradition,” so it’s still weird for me, and my family doesn’t try to kiss me when I visit Michigan, but I’m just saying that it doesn’t strike as odd quite as much as it might some fans on here. However, I do agree that it’s weird that they’re both kissing and shaking hands; you can’t be formal and familiar at the same time.
