Reluctantly push play. Watch. Think “SMH”. Get mad. #BashWednesday.
Strings, right? Tomorrow at 3:30 PM, the second game of the SEC Tournament gets underway with USC(E6) squaring off against Ole Miss(W3). If you are not in Atlanta and like watching painfully boring basketball (aka a Big 10 fan), tune into the SEC Network for your viewing pleasure.
Hopefully, the only people who hate re-watching Chris Warren’s game winner against UK more than us fans are the players and coaches themselves. This was a painful loss that came about in a similar fashion to many of our road losses. We all know the paradigm by now: come out slow, fall behind, get lazy, make a valiant comeback, then shoot ourselves in the foot and fall short.
For our 3:30 PM Friday game, we get a another shot at Ole Miss, so long as they beat USC. The question is, however, would we rather dig deep into our hate and lay a revenge-filled smackdown on Warren and the Rebels… or would we rather coast against the lowly Gamecocks, who we nearly broke 100 against in February?
The question is fairly moot, as UK has enough talent to put either of these teams away in easy fashion. The unfortunate part is that we failed to do just that at Ole Miss earlier in the year. It is safe to say we have upped the ante when it comes to our level of play in close games as of late. It is also safe to say that Atlanta will be more of a home game than anything. I would love to see an epic beatdown of the Napoleonite Chris Warren for what his billy-goat beard did to us in our last meeting. On the other hand, I realize that if we get in a tough battle with Ole Miss, it does not bode well for the legs of a 6-deep team (albeit the most talented) as they progress in the tournament. It does not matter which team we face if we play as well as we should, but it would be a hell of a lot more fun to stomp a little retribution into Ole Miss.
I want to see Deandre get a chance to show what he is made of again.
