Couple of quick things:
— John Calipari says he “expects the team to get knocked around a little bit” early in this season. He said losing some games early would not be the worst thing in the world for the Cats and he expects some of the heavyweights at the beginning to pull of some wins against the Big Blue. Some of those hard games are in Maui, which may be why he isnt interested in making the trip.
— How amazing is it to hear that Steve Spurrier thinks the UK game is one of the biggest in school history this weekend in Lexington? I understand where he is coming from, as it is a validation of the notoriety given for the defeat of Alabama last week. Still, Spurrier has never lost to UK and South Carolina is on a decade long winning streak. So it should be a win that they can easily wrap up if history repeats itself…but maybe the Old Ball Coach is worried that this time it wont.
— Want to know what really happens with Agents in college sports? Then read this article in Sports Illustrated. It makes Mel Kiper look really bad and also showcases how absurd it is for some to act like Calipari is the outlaw of the industry. There are certain dynamics in college sports that are shady across the board…we only selectively decide to enforce the rules…as the Reggie Bush saga showcased.
— Lots of people wondering about the Pete Thamel post from earlier today. One commentor even asked, “does Matt know something…if not he shouldnt have written this.” Really? You think? Listen to today’s show below and you will hear more on the story that the Times has been planning to publish this week. We shall see if they now still do it after we let the cat out of the bag.
Plus lots of talk about more important topics such as the tv show “Growing Pains”, what Drew Franklin wants to do in the new UL arena and what John Calipari was doing in “Bed, Bath and Beyond.” Check it out (and the other shows) below:
