Some nice perspective on Nerlens’ injury

It’s not often that we praise the national media for providing perspective, but today may be the day. ESPN’s Dana O’Neil, formerly of Those-Who-Hate-Kentucky-And-Conspire-To-Bring-Them-Down, has seemingly turned over a new leaf to the Kentucky program in the past year. Today, she writes about Nerlens Noel’s season-ending ACL injury and instead of focusing on what it means for Nerlens the player, she looks at what it means for Nerlens the person. An excerpt:

They’re athletes first and last, guys who grew up playing their sport, who consider going to practice as much a part of their daily routine as brushing their teeth.

So imagine what it feels like when — poof! — it’s gone.

Noel knows what his injury means to Kentucky. Noel knows what it could mean to his draft status.

But right now it means one thing: He can’t play basketball for the foreseeable future.

Go check it out.

[O’Neil: It’s about a kid and a torn-up knee]

This is ridiculous. She still got her jab in. Good on her for stating the obvious, but how irrelevant is the bit about the “less-than-honorable people” and the “investigation. Bogus.

The bright side is for Nerlens Noel and it is because of modern medicine, the reason why O’Neil can write “A blown out knee not the end of the world”. Twenty years ago the UF game might have been his last.

obviously the loss of NN is a huge loss for the Cats, but at least the timing allows Cal to try to get something together for a run in the SEC Tourney … probably a necessary run for the NCAAs

Wow, T.T., I thought you were better/smarter than this. I’m afraid it’s time you turned in your resignation, if you truly believe the crap you posted here today.

It’s called “damning with faint praise”. If Jesus Christ tore his knee up, this old hag would just have to get a shot in. Why link these atrocious articles?

@ 16…No, we don’t…and we’ll sure as hell don’t have to put up with KSR staff writers posting this ignorant crap, and acting like we’re too dumb to know any better. Drew or Matt needs to delete this entry, and admonish Mrs. T.T. for promoting/supporting journalism that is an obvious…and unfair…slam against a fine student athlete.
