I have been in the Mountains for the past couple of days and thus have been a bit out of the loop here at the site. As always, you can follow me us on Twitter at Kysportsradio for such occasions. However if you havent been, a couple of notes:
— The Wildcat Coal Lodge has now been moved forward for construction. I have had my say on this and it seems from the comment sections that all of you have as well. I will say that I have spent 48 hours here in the heart of coal country (where unlike many of the passionate debaters on both sides, I am actually from), and everyone I have spoken with thinks it is a ridiculous name. But regardless, it is here to stay, so we might as well enjoy it. A “green” building called the coal lodge…life is awesome.
— I especially was thrilled with the news of the Open Practice in Louisville. Apparently UK cannot actually publicize the event in Louisville for some reason or other, but that doesnt mean it wont be on for Sunday at 6 pm at Freedom Hall. I absolutely LOVE what UK does with this type of thing. Great thinking and a potentially cool event. Kudos.
— It is visit day for UK as Terrence Jones is in town and the word from South of the Border is that CJ Leslie could be coming as well. Dustin Rumbaugh will give you all the info as the day goes on, but the Blue-White Game’s importance in the recruiting season cannot be overstated.
— Speaking of the Blue-White Game, it will be an exciting moment here on the site. This will be our first basketball coverage so far this year and we will get it done with a LIVE BLOG on the site at 6:30 pm. In addition, this will be the first game ever in which not one, but two, KSRers will be covering the festivities, as the Turkey Hunter will be reporting live as well. Look for his rundown of the activities on Thursday.
— With all of this UK praise, the football blackout is officially ridiculous at this point. So we are having a blackout, but the team isnt wearing black? Really? And Coach Brooks said via Twitter that he wanted noise, whether the fans were wearing black, blue or white. What is likely to happen is that the “blackout” will be a dud and it will be a regular game, with some people wearing random black shirts. Poor planning folks…should have done the black jerseys.
— It is not possible for me to be a bigger fan of Patrick Patterson. It really isnt.
— I hope you saw the Holmes-Ali Documentary last night. One of the best, and in many ways saddest, sports documentaries of all time. Very moving and the best of the 30 for 30 Series so far.
— 6 days until a political announcement that KSR is going to make to shock the world.
— Speaking of political announcements, Richie for Governor doesnt really surprise anyone at this point, but is nevertheless interesting. I have gotten to know Richie a bit in the past year or so and have become very fond of him. It will be very interesting to follow the race and we most certainly will.
