Its been a heck of a long day as I arose at 5 am to drive to Floyd County and back and now need to hit the hay a bit early. Thus we will move a bit quicker through the notes from a very busy day around UK land.
— I start by once again recognizing what a different place the UK basketball program is right now than it was even a month ago. Today John Calipari was put on Twitter and spent the evening writing about seven tweets live from the Bulls-Celtics game. Whether this continues to be something he does a great deal remains to be seen, but the fact that he is even open to such direct fan interaction shows just how amazingly different he will be than anything we have seen here in a long time.
— While nothing has been announced officially, as we said on Wednesday afternoon, Darnell Dodson will be a Kentucky Wildcat. He was granted his release on Wednesday, committed to UK in the afternoon, signed scholarship papers later in the day (you cant sign a second LOI) and then all waited for the final signatures from his parents. Whether those have arrived today or not, I expect we will get a formal announcement either from the kid or UK within the next couple of days. We will have more on Dodson as a player later in the day.
— Rick Bozich joined the chorus today saying that John Wall is a UK lean. I think that has been the case for the last few weeks and you will find almost no dissenters to that view. Wall said today that he now may not visit Duke, meaning that Coach K better have really enjoyed that Book Tour. Wall told Devils Illustrated in Durham that he is pretty sure he knows where it wants to go and one think that it has to be UK at this point. Watch out however for Florida….they are likely in second and moving up….Billy D has made huge strides with Wall, although it may be too little too late.
— You simply have to go to the Blue-White Game. Ok well you dont have to, as it is unlikely that I will be able to attend either, but there are some worries that attendance wont be great on what is supposed to be a BEAUTIFUL day in the Bluegrass. Some might criticize the date (same as the NFL Draft), but with Keeneland, UK has little choice. Should be a great event and a good chance to see the solid defense UK will have next year.
— Shockingly the ESPN story on Pitino still wouldnt give Sypher’s claims. It looks like no media outlet will allow the woman to speak in her own voice on all the allegations. Who knows if that will happen?
— Did you see Rajon Rondo tonight? He gave a flagrant foul to Joakim Noah in a move that UK fans wished they had seen in Rupp during his college career. But then he was carried off the court in garbage time with an injury. Here is hoping that the injury ends up not being that serious.
A whole lot coming on Friday all day…..stay tuned….And if you didnt see the ROB GIDEL SPRING FOOTBALL LIVE BLOG, make sure to check it out a couple posts down. It was a GREAT football info source and it is worth your time
