Let’s dive into a few quick links as we await tomorrow night’s showdown with Cam Newton and Auburn…
–First on the injury front, Qua Huzzie will be a game-time decision tomorrow. He had surgery earlier this week on his thumb and will test it before the game to see if he can go against War Eagle. Freshman Avery Williamson has gotten more reps in practice and would see an increase in playing time as Huzzie is unavailable.
–The spread on the game tomorrow seems to be settling at Auburn (-6). The folks at BetFirms break the game down around that spread, and seem to think that your money should be on the Cats. Even though they’re still taking Auburn to win, they think Kentucky takes it to the final possessions before losing 27-23. The prediction, which could probably be considered a little optimistic for Kentucky, is at least heartening since someone out there doesn’t think Cameron Newton is just going to eat us alive.
–And finally, ESPN has an interesting writeup on the state of football recruiting in the state of Kentucky. I mean, it’s interesting if you don’t have anything better to do on a Friday night than read stories about high school football. Still, it talks about the homegrown talent in the Commonwealth and how the in-state recruiting battle between Joker Phillips and Charlie Strong is shaping up, which is pretty exciting, right?
There you go. Chew on those and then get some rest. You have a Keeneland-UK double to pull tomorrow.
