Because it is Christmas and we are in the holiday spirit, you will notice significantly fewer posts on KSR over the next two days. It is a way to allow our writers to have fun with their families and to allow Drew the ability to connect with his inner self. A couple of notes on this Christmas Eve:
— The UK basketball team is no longer in Lexington, as all members have gone to their various home destinations. They all will return to Lexington on Monday to get ready for the Lamar game that will be played on Wednesday. It is a three day break in which the team can hopefully recharge their batteries and Jarod Polson and Kyle Wiltjer can come up with more videos such as their Christmas one below. By the way, I think this video is tremendous and showcases that our worry that the “goofy” factor in Kentucky basketball would be gone in the post-Boogie/Jorts era was clearly unfounded.
— In case you missed it yesterday, both Jorts and Deandre Liggins were reported to have made their team’s final 15 roster. In the NBA, I believe only 12 dress for games, and it isn’t clear if both will be on that list yet, but it is an important step for both young men. Liggins especially came into camp with longer odds and less time to get adjusted, but to his credit, he made the team and now will add to the growing list of UK players in the league.
— I hope you watched at least part of the UL vs Western game last night. While there were a number of names we have known from years past, the sight of two former KSR legends, Vinny Zollo and Teeng Akol not only playing, but contributing meaningfully to the game was awesome to watch. Zollo has an absurdly great moustache and a decent outside shot, while Akol, of Marshall County Suckfest podcast fame, was tremendous in his awkard glory. Throughout the game, all I could think of was the question on every KSR writer’s mind…if only they had Leek Leek.
— Finally, you want living proof of the power of the Big Blue Nation? The Sacramento Kings are going to have a Legends game this year and they have a poll on their website asking which former Kings legends they should invite. There are 12 players, representing different eras, and since we saw Tony Delk on the list, we put a link to the poll on here yesterday. As of last night, these were the results:
One should never allow the Big Blue faithful to be part of any online poll, ever.
With that, I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. Once again, you guys have made Year 6 of KSR the best yet and we continue to appreciate your support.
