Some behind-the-scenes looks at Nutter Training Facility

If you read my post below, you’ll know that I went to the Women’s Football Clinic yesterday – at the end of the event, the coaching staff also offered optional tours of the Nutter Training Facility, which is looking pretty spiffy since its recent upgrades.  Here are some photos to get you through your Sunday:

–The big meeting room (each position also has its own meeting room)

<<– Not bad, not bad at all. This is the players’ lounge to your left.

This is actually pretty cool.  When the players have sweated through their practice gear, shoes, etc, they use this machine to dry everything out between two-a-days.

So, let me get this straight.

We (typically) have a fanbase that fills our stadium.
We have a nice, newly renovated football training facility.
We have hard working players that want to succeed.

What is holding UK back from being a good football program?

    1- exactly. Smoke screens.

You want to see real facilities? Look at what UT is building right now to the tune of $50million.

That! is a drive to succeed. What UK puts forth in effort is Bush league at best.

No way! Not a single, 36″ flat-panel TV!!!!

How will the SEC ever keep up?

All this money for last place in the SEC. Can’t we just give up on football and spend this on academics?

What, a blow dryer to dry equipment…the new UT facility is going to have a whole room to dry shoes. Just shoes

Man, you gotta wash them socks…drying ’em out just don’t cut it. I see athletes foot in the future of many of our players.

That’s ok for their cleats, but nothin’ else. And take those insoles OUT!

I have asked the question on several of these threads and never got a real answer. Exactly what are we missing in the facility line.

I find it not believable to say luxury boxes that players never see.

7- it has nothing to do with facilities. Its the coach. We dont have a proven coach. We dont have a true football tradition. Why would top players want to play for UK, a program that has never even sniffed a national title, when they can go to the USC’s and the Alabamas and Floridas and get national attention, compete for a championship whether it be confrence or national. Its the same reason all the top recruits want to come to play for Kentucky Basketball. They know Cal and the UK brand will get them to the next level. No matter how many times you polish a turd, its still a turd.

7- how about a completely hard-wired facility with intelligent training equipment that can recognize a player and then display to said player on the screen in front of him what his workout for the day is scheduled to be on this machine?

    UT has that.

How about a virtual reality training room where players are trained mentally to make quicker decisions on the field?

UT has that, too… then again, UT is actually trying.

I can go on and on.

That is an incredible…waste of money.

until we get an AD that cares about football, and someone who will go out and hustle for so money, like Jurich. We wont ever make that step in football. If we didnt beat UL in a couple of those Rich Brooks seasons we wouldn’t have made it to a bowl. I dont want to hear that Kentucky wont be able to recruit the best athletes. Vandy and that other School down thoe road are recruiting top athletes. The scariest part of having Barnhardt is, who the heck is going to hire after Joker? That is a scary thought. Dont give me the run around about Olympic sports whoopty do. Football is our money maker.

Not to bust your bubble #8 and while it was a very long time ago, UK did sniff a Championship and tied with OU for it in 1951 under Paul Bear Bryant

13-WOW they tied for a title 61 years ago. One time. When 80% of the fans that go to the games now werent even alive. Are u sure you’re not a Loserville fan? Do u also claim steeplechase championships

17- Actually, they don’t have it yet. It is currently being built. Losing to UK for the first time in 25 years lit a fire under someone who wants to actually win games at UT.

What was UK’s reaction to their 25 consecutive losses to UT?

BTW- UK beat the 3rd worst overall UT team in UT history. Don’t break your arm patting yourself on the back over that one, friend.

It’s a lot more than just a head coach. This is why football recruiting is so much different than basketball recruiting. In basketball, most players choose a school based on the head coach. In football, its more about establishing a realationship with their position coach and recruiting coach. Of course the head coach matters and is brought into seal the deal in many cases, but the next UK coach will need to be given a deeper pocketbook on assistants.
