We have now all gotten our chance to get over yesterday’s loss to Auburn. There is no secret to say that it wasn’t pretty, but even through all of its’ ugliness, the Cats still had a legitimate chance to win and in some cases still should have.
After losses, the pulse of the fanbase is always interesting to watch. It is now my job to try and bring that to you on different levels:
On the Fouls
?? Duke @ Syracuse
– 54 total fouls
– 70 total free throw attempts
?? Kentucky @ Auburn
– 48 total fouls
– 68 total free throw attempts
Two of the worst officiated games I’ve seen all year, by far.

Did I just agree with a Duke fan? I will go wash my mouth out…
I’ll say this as a Kentucky fan. I hate losing more than anyone, but I’ll accept a loss when I just know my team wasn’t tough enough and not have to blame it on refs.
WE LOST A GAME ON THE ROAD.
It will be ok …#BBN

22 fouls. 34 FTs. 1 technical.
This game clearly isn’t about Auburn or Kentucky.

Kentucky was just called for two fouls while loading onto bus after game…
— Kelly Thompson (@FantasyFballNut) February 2, 2020
Kentucky's 4 best games on the schedule thus far (MSU, UofL, TxTech and Auburn) have seen a combined 179 fouls in 170 mins of action. ?? Over officiating is killing college basketball.
— alex madison (@amadison04) February 2, 2020
Kentucky went up 5 with around 10 minutes to go and fouls started getting thrown around like money in a strip club.

Okay, I will admit it. This made me laugh…

On Ashton Hagans
Pretty hard to overcome an off night from Ashton Hagans and Nick Richards on the road. Even harder when your opponent gets 20 more free throw attempts than you do.
— Tyler Thompson (@MrsTylerKSR) February 2, 2020
What's wrong with Ashton hagans? He hasn't been himself the past few games.

Ashton Hagans fouled out with five points and three assists, ending his 17-game streak of at least five assists. It was the longest streak since Tyler Ulis did it 24 straight games from Dec. 26, 2015 to March 17, 2016.

SAY IT WITH ME. DON’T TWEET AT PLAYERS!!!! Sorry, rant over. Pet peeve.
But with all that said… still 44 FT’s to our 24 is just hard to comprehend… I’m not saying.. but I’m just sayin… #JustVENTING GO CATS!!!! I ? You ASHTON Hagans!

On Nick Richards
Nick Richards needs help down low. Games like tonight prove that….Richards was taken out of the game, because the others can’t beat you. Montgomery and Sestina are better than they’re playing….
— George Livingood (@mg_dirty) February 2, 2020
Bottom Line #BBN: We did not execute. Nick Richards had 7 points on 8 attempts. That’s part player, part coaching. Hagans can’t have 6 TOs and 3 assists.
The officiating is always going to be subpar so plan for it. This isn’t their profession – it’s their hobby.
Be better. Win.

My one concern…4 of our 5 losses have come against teams with a big, physical Center
And in all 4 of those games, Nick Richards has either played poorly or been a non-factor
We need that to change
— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) February 2, 2020
And we see that we need Nick Richards, he had a bad game tonight and that’s ok, can’t be great every night, but man he’s been huge…time to move on get ready for Tuesday #BBN

I don’t think the refs cost Kentucky the game. Our defense and lack of rebounding did that. But the officiating is so inconsistent. It’s hard to watch a college basketball game bc of all the fouls. No flow to the game at all.
— Bryce Williams (@_bryce_will12) February 2, 2020
Auburn had a +14 rebounding margin over Kentucky tonight, tied for the 3rd largest rebounding margin by a Kentucky opponent in the John Calipari era, and the most since 2/4/17 at Florida (+19)
— Corey Price (@coreyp08) February 2, 2020
Yes refs suck! That’s normal, but rebounding is exactly why Kentucky lost tonight…. they rebound they win
— Jim May (@MayJ2424) February 2, 2020
Kentucky's defensive rebounding tonight has been atrocious.
— Scott Shapiro (@ScottShap34) February 2, 2020
Kentucky appears allergic to rebounding tonight vs Auburn. That’s not winning this game.

As you can tell, a lot of different takes out there from the fan base. There is nothing new with that. Bring on Mississippi State!
