There’s one person whose opinion on the game we haven’t touched on yet, and it’s someone who might be of particular interest to Kentucky fans. Shabazz Muhammad, the crown jewel of the 2012 recruiting class and serial during-UK-game Twitterer, surely would have something to say about the Cats’ performance in the biggest game of the college basketball season, wouldn’t he? Something about how Kentucky gutted it out, or how the game was great, or how he must have a thing for watching North Carolina lose, because he was in attendance last Saturday when UNLV handed the Heels their first defeat of the season. So what did Shabazz have to say about UK’s down-to-the-wire, instant classic, game of the year win over its historic rival?
Whoops. Turns out not even the game of the year was enough to get a high school senior out of bed for what was a 9 a.m. tip in his Vegas neck of the woods. It’s just another reason that, if this series ends up continuing sometime in the future, it should be in primetime. How are we supposed to show the country that we’re the pre-eminent power in college basketball when half of it hasn’t had breakfast by tip time? But, I digress. At least he was probably wide awake to watch UCLA drop to 2-5 after losing by 10 to Texas. Just saying.
Still, what’s more important than all this is that someone gets Shabazz an upgrade at alarm clock. The Louisville game is at noon, too.
