So, Florida, What Have You Been Doing?

I don’t want to talk about the Georgia game. It sucked. Let’s talk about our only hope to make the tournament. Beating Florida.

We last saw the Gators in Gainesville on a day that saw us lose not only the game, but also our best player and rapper Nerlens Noel to a season ending ACL injury.  I’ll never forget the silence that fell over Corner Pub in Nashville as the flat topped one lay on the ground writhing in pain. It was like a big party was going on, 2 dorks walked in, and the music came to a screeching halt. It goes without saying that moment will be the worst of what we at Kentucky consider to be a down year.

As is sometimes the case during conference season, we face the same team more than once. Teams used to face each team in their respective divisions twice, but now that divisions have been wiped out the schedule varies. When we at “Know Your Enemy” find that a team has already been “known,” (so to speak) we like to ask them what they have been up to since the last time we played them.

Today we ask “So, Florida, what have you been doing?”

*Auburn (away)– WIN. Florida joined the “We Killed Auburn” club. This club has no membership capacity. Depsite Auburn running 11 guys at them, Florida placed 4 guys in double figures and won the game 83-52.

*Missouri (away)- LOSS. Florida led by 13 in this game but eventually fell victim to poor shooting, going 10-33 from three point range. This included a 7-26 combined effort from Erik Murphy, Kenny Boynton, and Mike Rosario. The 63-60 loss was the Gators 2nd conference road loss of the season.

*Arkansas (home)- WIN. As you know, Arkansas sucks away from home. This day was no different as Florida placed four guys in double figures and got 14 points off the nech in a dominating 71-54 win over the Razorbacks.

*Tennessee (away) LOSS. Once again Florida’s three point trio of Murphy, Boynton, and Rosario struggled in this 64-58 loss. They went a combined 4-16 from three point range. When Florida has lost this season they have put up horrible statistics from downtown. This is not to take away from Tennessee’s performance and a monster 27 point game from Jordan McCrae.

*Alabama (home)– WIN. This game was close for a long time due to another bad shooting game from Florida (2-13 on 3’s) and even saw Alabama lead by at least six at one point in the second half. Florida regained control late though and went on to win 64-52.

*Vandy (home)– WIN. In a 66-40 game that was watched by only friends and families of these teams, Vandy shot a blistering 4-24 from three point land and Florida’s Braxton Ogbueze achieved the elusive 2 trillion.

As you can see, things haven’t been all edible arrangements for the Gators since our last meeting. They’ve gone 4-2 witht heir best win probably being their 64-52 win at home over Alabama.

Even after our loss at Georgia last night, we can still get the 2 seed in the SEC tournament with a win tomorrow. While the Gators have had a good year, any struggles they’ve had have come on the road. On the road is where they find themselves tomorrow. Rupp Arena, to be exact.

A win tomorrow for the Cats and a win in the first round of the SEC gets them into the NCAA Tournament.  If you’re going to the game be loud and make it as uncomfortable as you can for the Gators. Like showering with your uncle uncomfortable. Make them not want to be there. Here’s to finishing strong. Let’s go CATS!

After all of the bachelor posts, you should probably stay away from jokes about showering with men. People are starting to wonder.

Florida was without Yuguette (sp?) and Frazier in that loss to UT, and Prather also left in the second half with an injury. Those three are back now, and they’re pretty good.

Weak! Winning two games gets UK where? It’s all relative to what other bubble teams do as well. Get out of here!

You are kidding yourself if you think we don’t lose by 20+ tomorrow. We just lost to GEORGIA by double digits.

I am at a loss for words regarding this team (and I use that word loosely). I love them, but I have no faith in them. They should be embarrassed at their season. They have no fight. No gumption. No ‘will’ to win. No spirit. No fun. No toughness. No pride. Do not know how to smile. I know our best player, Nerlens, went down; but that alone should have brought them together to fight that much harder for the ‘team’. If they think college is tough; then just wait until the NBA. They will get clobbered – worse than now. I feel so sorry for Coach Cal. Hopefully the next #1 recruiting class will be much better. Perhaps this group read their high school clippings too much and thought all they had to do was walk out on the floor and opponents would fall down in fear. Of course, that would never happen. I know they are young; but they are no longer freshmen. You are talking with one sad UK fan.

I crack a smile every time I see Flener post a pic of a hot girl…

Even if you get married to a playmate, everyone will always know….

3, in that case wasn’t UT without Maymon…all year? The point of the post isn’t to apologize for Florida or Tennessee, just to emphasize that if you control their 3 point shooting they are beatable by any team that is average or better.

TLC will use the same starting line up and play the same way, so we will probably have the same result.

Many of the other bubble teams play very “loseable” games tomorrow: Temple plays VCU, Boise St plays San Diego St, Ole Miss plays at LSU, Baylor plays Kansas, Arizona St. plays at Arizona and Tennessee plays Missouri. So, as dismal as it seems (is?), believe it or not, we’re still in this. It will take a Herculeon(SP?) effort tommorrow from the Cats, but in my opinion, if Mizzou, Ark and TN can all beat FL at home, so can UK. Let’s give the Cats a rowdy home crowd advantage tomorrow!

This should be posted on here again to remind everyone just how blessed we were last year at this time. People are quick to forget how special last year was. I’m just as upset as everyone, and I want to forget this season…but we won a national title last year for god sake, and we’re winning one again next year. Lets enjoy this ride Cal and these young men are taking us on. Sure it’s like a roller coaster at times, but it’s a damn fun one imo.

    GO CATS!

This game will be over at halftime. This group doesnt deserve a spot in the NCAA. They will get beat in the first game anyway.

9 – not disagreeing that controlling their 3-point shooting is important. Just saying that they were without key parts of their team that game, and saying that the six-point road loss at UT shouldn’t be considered a typical game for them. By the way, Frazier is their best 3-point shooter.

I understand the enthusiasm around how good the next class looks but it’s a lil too early for all the people acting like we should just go ahead and hang #9 right now. You never know how a freshman class will turn out and even if they are as good as we think they will be Coach Cal’s first team proved that being the best team in the country isn’t always enough to win the tourney.

Fl will do what Billy’s teams always do; run the high screen all day at the top of the free throw circle or even higher out and watch their point guard dribble right to the basket and score. Willie always goes out and get’s picked and NEVER get’s back. Why Willie can’t see this happening EVERY time down the court I Fail to comprehend. Our Fwd’s never pick up the dribbler. Fl will score on this at will.

16: Lots of teams have shown that being the best team in the country isn’t enough to win. Winning the tourney takes some luck as well as talent.

    24. That is exactly what I was saying. I just used Coach Cal’s first team as an example because people that have already hung the banner next year in their minds just because we should be the best team on paper seem to be forgetting that team.
