SLAM Magazine names Noel 2012 First Team HS All-American

“Okay, Cats to the right…”

Nerlens is raking in awards and he’s not even on campus yet.

Today, SLAM Magazine named Nerlens to their High School All-American First Team, along with the only underclassman on the list and 2013 target Jabari Parker. Alex Poythress and Archie Goodwin made the second and third teams, respectively.

Here are the complete rosters:

First Team
Isaiah Austin (Baylor)
Shabazz Muhammad (UCLA)
Kyle Anderson (UCLA)
Nerlens Noel (Kentucky)
Jabari Parker (Kentucky rising senior at Simeon Academy in Chicago)

Second Team
Steven Adams (Pitt)
Anthony Bennett (UNLV)
Grant Jerrett (Arizona)
Alex Poythress (Kentucky)
Marcus Smart (Oklahoma)

Third Team
Kaleb Tarczewski (Arizona)
Rasheed Sulaimon (Duke)
Archie Goodwin (Kentucky)
Ricardo Ledo (Providence)
Sam Dekker (Wisconsin)

Get it, boys.

Kyle Anderson’s head is absurdly small.

So many of the comments the last couple of weeks have been “down” concerning recruiting. Cal got 3 of the 14 HS AA’s that were available this year; no other school could claim the same. The 2 “missed” are also AA’s when you go after the top you are not going to always get them all; still don’t understand the Bennett thing.

Anderson’s the most overrated player in the class, just for the record. That spot will go to Poythress when the season arrives.

Austin, while playing in the all star games, reminded me a lot of Anthony Davis. I think that dude is going to be a star.

    @5.

Don’t mention those two together again. I have seen Austin play, and didn’t catch even a glimpse of what you could when AD was on the court.

Marcus Smart is going to Stilwater. I had a double take when I saw Oklahoma get a recruit.

I thought our recruiting class was struggling this year until I remembered we had Poythress and Goodwin to go along with Noel, Mays, and Cauley.

1 name missing that probably is the best over all player, & the youngest is Andrew Wiggins. Anybody that watched this years Nike Hoop Summit would testify that Wiggins is better than probably all of them. Go get him Cal.
