Short and Insufficient Profile: Taylor Wyndham

During the slow and insipid summer of 2008, former KSR wordsmith Evan Hilbert profiled each and every member of the University of Kentucky football team. Though his knowledge was sparse and his research was far from thorough, Evan’s short and insufficient player profiles were an integral part of Kentucky’s success that season. UK finished with seven wins, including the opener at Louisville and a 25-19 victory in the Liberty Bowl. Kentucky hasn’t won a bowl game since. Let’s bring back that magic…

Nickname

“Nighthawk”

Something You Didn’t Know About Him

He enjoys poetry and listening to classical/opera music in his off time.

Something We Made Up About Him

His three favorites movies are Rudy, Dirty Dancing, and Waiting To Exhale.

Items of Legitimate Interest

Whether Taylor likes it or not, he’ll always be the guy who knocked Tim Tebow out cold in 2009. But there’s more to Taylor Wyndham than attacking ESPN’s baby boy on a pass rush and slamming him to the ground with ferocity like Lawrence Taylor in his prime. Nom nom nom nom.

Taylor has been a part-time starter at Kentucky the past three seasons and he’ll start again this season opposite Collins Ukwu when Kentucky uses a four-man defensive line. He’s played in 38 games over his career and added 35 pounds of indestructible steel to his frame since arriving on campus.

Unfair NFL Comparison

Jarred Allen, Minnesota Vikings

It’s not just a comparison, you’ll have a hard time convincing me they’re not brothers.

Outlook for 2012

Look for him to improve on his 14 total tackles from last season while putting the fear of God in every quarterback on Kentucky’s schedule.

The only reason Tebow was knocked out was because the back of his head hit the knee of his own teammate when he was falling from the hit by Wyndham. It was a good hit by Wyndham but let’s be honest, Tebow would have bounced up and played the next play had the knee he hit not caused a concussion. Yeah Wyndham got in a great shot but Tebow has taken a lot worse and played through it.

    #3, it doesn’t matter.

The seed was planted with Tebowner.

Taylor Wyndham’s mere presence alone will continue to cause QBs to to have sudden and inadvertent BMs.

The best Jacked Up hit was Dicky Lyons on Craig “On Stiltz” Steltz (LSU) the second best Jacked Up was this one on Teblow.
