OK, so, during the dragging, sweaty, uncomfortable months of summer, we flippantly mentioned that we would be profiling every player on the team. It will only be fun and worthwhile, we decided, if we were both informative AND funny. Well, it would be really fun if we were drunk the entire time, but that’s neither here nor there. Thus, for these ten weeks leading up to the UL game, we will have at least one profile a day. We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed the idea of doing them, but not the actual task. Oh, and we see the egregious “that’s what she said” in the headline.
We’d also like to use this italicized space to apologize to the families of the players whose last names end in ‘A’ or ‘B’ because these early ones might suck a little.
Reppin’ the ‘Dale…hell yeah.
Boring, Obligatory Vitals
Position–TE / FB
Hometown–Louisville, KY (Fairdale)
Unfair comparison to NFL-er: Michael Bush. Why the hell not? He’s big, athletic for his size, and has great hands out of the backfield. Plus, he’s from the Derby City.
Most interesting fact from his media guide bio: His father, Maurice Morris, helped Fairdale win back-to-back state championships in basketball…Maurice, the one pictured above, was first team all-state in b-ball his senior year and second-team all-state his junior year and also qualified for state in the high jump, long jump, 4×100, and 4×200 relays…other than that, not much.
Something we made up about him: Nicknamed “The Grinder” in high school because of his punishing style of play and affinity for hoagies
Items of legitimate interest: Has been a moose out of the backfield since he has arrived to UK. Has great hands out of the backfield, and is utilized brilliantly on the goal line. Scored HUGE touchdowns against Vandy (on the ground) last year and Florida (through the air) in ’06. Three-star recruit out of high school at LB.
Outlook for 2008, based on light research by our minions: Big talk has been that he is going to battle Drake and Bogue for tight end, but had to miss some contact portions of spring practice because of shoulder surgery. Wherever he plays (TE or FB), he will have a big hand in both the passing and running game for the Cats.
