I really can’t wait for the season to end. I am so tired of watching this no hustle, no pride bunch make the same mistakes over and over. There is no defense, no rebounding… guard play. I can take losing, but not when you aren’t giving everything. We reach down for a loose ball, the other team dives for it. Pitiful.

So – could Cal be on the hotseat at the end of next season? I think his philosophy could really come into question next season if the issues of youth repeat themselves.

What’s sad however, is that this puts SO much pressure on the kids coming in. These kids are 18-year-old and fans are really expecting a 180 degree turn-around. That’s asking a lot for young kids.

Mitch Barnhart needs to be the adult and remind Calipari that College Basketball is not JUST about 18-year-old kids. It’s about a collection of players, some of whom have experience. UK’s image is taking a hit this year and there are so many in the country loving the fact that we are failing. They see the One-and-Done for the sham that it is, and next year is going to be extremely telling for the future of UK basketball under Calipari.

Worst UK BB team of all time???…got my vote especially when you consider preseason #3 to only one week in Top 25 at number 25. This team would also qualify from a guts, heart, IQ,team standpoint, or lack thereof. AP has got to be the biggest 5* BUST as well.

    4. Noel was 18. So was MKG. Cousins was 18 and a head case to boot. Wall. Knight. You don’t have to be 22 to be tough and play with pride. Not every 18-year-old is created equal. If the guys coming in have pride in themselves, let alone their team, they’ll be better than this bunch.

By the way – the responsibility of this season does not fall on 18-year-old kids – it falls on a 50-plus year old man who puts 18-year-old kids in an unreaslistic position.

Heart you either have it or you don’t. It all stems from that added hours in the gym, getting rebounds, going hard all the time, doing the little things. MKG enough said.

    10. Most guys come here because they want the responsibility. They don’t want to be coddled and eased into it with 10 minutes a game and a chance of being drafted their senior year. Cal isn’t forcing them out. He’s letting them leave, unlike Roy Williams who guilts the players into staying.

These guys wanted the prestige without the effort.

Even though we won a championship last year, I hate this one and done crap. You also end up with years like this. To keep a program at the top you have to have at least a few older guys to provide leadership. All these players coming in next year will be gone after one year and it’s start all over again. Any of you ever think about when the time does come that Calipari leaves what kind of shape we will be in if it is all one and done’s on the team at the time and they all leave? Why would a kid that falls into that category choose to come to Kentucky when he knows he’s going to be recruitever every year. One and Done is Feast and Famine. Last year was the Feast – this year is the Famine.

Loved last years squad. Greatly respected the team the year before. Was amazed at the turnaround by the team in Year One. BUT THEY WERE THREE DIFFERENT TEAMS IN THREE YEARS. This year’s “team” proves the adage “you live by the sword, you die by the sword”. I hope they pass on the NIT and let this disaster end quietly. Maybe next year’s team returns to the magic of last year, but I for one am tired of Cal’s “player-first” merry-go-round – even when we win. Cal himself called this an 8-year job. Well, he is halfway through and I’d say batting .500-.750. Pressure will now on to keep up that average.

I agree these are only 18 year old kids. I know 10 year old kids that give better effort. I have never seen players stand on defense as much as this bunch. They dont even try to defend. Kyle W dont even attempt to play defense. I would bury him so deep on the bench that the water boy wouldnt have to walk past him. Im Ky through and through but this is the most heartless bunch I have ever seen in a Kentucky Uniform. We have three players that give 100% effort. Noels, Polson, Hood!!! 2 of them knows what it mean to put on the jersey and the other Noels is just that type of player. Could we win with thoses 2 playing alot of minutes. No but I would rather lose with kids that give effort than lose with kids that are self serving and don’t care. The only reason we have 20 wins is because Noels was there to hide our horrific defense. It doest take nothing but guts and heart to play defense and this team has neither. Did I mention that Kyle W. is no doubt the worst defender at the D-1 level that I have ever witness in 45 years. Show some pride if your gona come to Ky or lets just lose with kids that care. Piss poor effort.

Wow. Some of the comments on here are hilarious. Florida won the title and then missed the tournament two years in a row. UNC missed the tourney after their last title. Duke hasn’t gotten past the sweet 16 since they won (and lost to Lehigh of all schools last year). UConn slumped through the Big East last year and then lost to Iowa State. No program is a contender every year.

Kentucky is the greatest college basketball program around these days, but the reality is that even UK is not above down years. To suggest that Cal should be on the hotseat or that he doesn’t know what he’s doing in regards to recruiting is preposterous. You guys do know he made his first final four 17 years ago, right? Grabbing a bunch of talent and then “rolling the balls out” hoping they do well is selling him way, way short as a coach.
