Shabazz: Visit with Kentucky was “Great”

Finally, some news about John Calipari’s in-home visit with Shabazz Muhammad! Predictably, it went “great,” according to the top-ranked player in the 2012 class:

“The visit with Kentucky was great. I’ve talked to Coach Calipari a lot and he has shown a lot of interest in me…”

Bluegrasshoops.com interviewed Shabazz after his visit with Coach Cal, who was accompanied by assistants Orlando Antigua and Kenny Payne. Cal said he would use Shabazz as a shooting guard in the dribble-drive offense, which seems to be music to Shabazz’s ears, as does Kentucky’s track record of putting guys in the league:

“They want to use me as a shooting guard, which is where I prefer to play. I can fit in well with the dribble-drive offense and the guards at Kentucky always have a lot of freedom to make plays and let their talents shine through…The players they have put in the league says a lot. Coach Calipari really knows how to send guys to the NBA and be successful when they get there. They said they have a lot of confidence that I can succeed at the college and NBA levels.”

In case it wasn’t clear enough, Cal also let Shabazz know that Kentucky really, really wants him:

They said I was their number one priority. That feels really good, especially coming from a school like Kentucky that recruits all the best players. That was a big compliment.”

Go Cal.

Muhammed, Goodwin, Poythress, Cauley, Coleman or McGary would make a nice class and very possible. I know everyone wants to say Coleman is goin to SU, but you cant Cal out. Hell he may pull in some top recruit we didnt even know he was after. We will have a top 5 class no matter so doesnt really matter who we get. I just hope Muhammed is a part of it.

    Coach Cal looks exhausted.

As in: The Dominican and South American cuisine has caused physical and ‘colonial’.. ‘exhaustion’.

And, well, Photo says: Smeller’s the Fellar.

Coleman is SU bound (unless he’s OSU bound).

    McGary’s a loss too.

Had the A Team there watching which is perfect. Taking nothing for granted, UK should get a top 5 shooting and or point guard. It’s the BIG man that draws my interest. I feel a solid big man is key to getting UK back to the final four sooner than later. Not some center that is just okay…seen to many of them wear the blue & white. I want a Maglorie type that is a force on every play. Liked to see McGary but that reality seems to be fading but still have hope tho.
