SEC Tournament Projections
As amazing as it seems, the SEC Tournament in Nashville is just over a month away, and I don’t know about you, but I think its about time UK brought home that title to go along with the national title. The SEC Tournament has not been kind to the Cats over the past few years, with the last title coming in 2004.
It seems as if the divisional picture is starting to take shape, especially in the West, where Arkansas and Mississippi St. and Ole Miss are sitting pretty in the first 3 spots. The East is a little muddier with UK, UT, Vandy, and Florida looking to slug it out over the two byes. Should be an exciting last 4 weeks of the regular season.
If the SEC were to start today, here would be the matchups:
1st Round
(E6) Georgia vs (W3) Mississippi State
(E5) South Carolina vs (W4) Alabama
(E4) Florida vs (W5) Auburn
(E3) Vanderbilt vs (W6) LSU
Quarterfinals
(E1) Kentucky vs Alabama/South Carolina winner
(W2) Mississippi vs Vanderbilt/LSU winner
(E2) Tennessee vs Miss St/Georgia winner
(W1) Arkansas vs Florida/Auburn winner
Semifinals
UK/Bama/USC vs Ole Miss/Vandy/LSU
UT/Miss St/UGA vs Ark/Florida/Auburn
Finals
I think it’s pretty obvious
Now, it’s obvious that this is premature, but just for arguments sake, I would really like this tournament setup for UK. With Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi, Vandy, and LSU on their side, the Cats would avoid the two teams who probably have the best talent to beat them in Tennessee and Mississippi St.
Either way, Nashville should be rockin again this year as the BBN takes it over for 3 days.
