The SEC is notorious for terrible starts in basketball. But this year may be taking us down a path that is worse than anything we have yet experienced. Tennessee and Auburn lost to Division II teams…Alabama went to Double Overtime with Alabama-Huntsville and now tonight, two more SEC teams dropped bombs in early games. Florida was crushed by Ohio State at home, showcasing that the Gators still dont have a low post presence to speak of, Alex Tyus still has the worst hairline in basketball history and Florida still isnt any better, even without Dan Werner stinking up every other play. LSU also dropped its usual early season game against a no-name, this time to Nicholls State, who dominated the second half to take out the Tigers in Baton Rouge.
In a year when the ACC is awful (Georgia Tech lost to Kennesaw State for goodness sake) and the Big Ten is the clearcut #1 conference in America (that hurts to write), the SEC seems to be back to its usual place. Kentucky is pretty good, a few other teams are decent and the rest of the league stinks. Oh and Louisville looks better than we thought (even though Butler was putrid). I am officially depressed.
