SEC Network will soon be a reality

While we’ve been busy stalking Shannon Spake, there’s actual news happening at the SEC Tournament. SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said today that a formal announcement regarding the SEC Network will come in mid-April.

The network, which will likely partner with ESPN, will go alongside the Big Ten and Pac-12 Networks and create tens of millions of dollars of revenue for the conference.

Most have projected the SEC Network to launch in 2014.

The SEC has been working the internet money pump for a year or so with their games on demand at their site.
started out free for games to watch online and now you pay.
It is the “drug dealer” business model.

will be given back to the student athletes who are the very foundation of these programs. I love UK and college sports in general, but either pay these kids or give them the right to use their names and likenesses for video games, commercials and other endorsement opportunities.

Does that mean we dont have to watch the SEC network “negative Definition” picture anymore and may actually get HD? Watching games on the SEC network its like watching it after someone taped it on their iphone.
