It’s almost time. Kentucky Football’s first home game is less than two hours away. The Wildcats are in need of a blowout to feel better about themselves after last week’s letdown, but are they going to get it? Vegas says no. According to them, Kentucky only has a touchdown advantage. Yikes. Here’s what other guys are saying around the internet:
Kent State’s offense wasn’t tested against Towson, and it will certainly need to come out of the gates strong in this game and prove it’s sharp. Regardless of the quality of its opponent, Kentucky cannot be pleased with its defensive effort at Louisville, but it’ll be happy to handle a less formidable team this week. The Golden Flashes used big plays on defense and special teams to win their opener, but it’s hard to count on that every week. Figure the Wildcats to earn their first win of the season in front of the home crowd.
Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Kentucky 31, Kent State 21
-Saturday Down South
Jon: Joker Phillips is in need of a win in the worst way. But there are too many question marks to make this a guarantee. But there is something to be said about a team with their backs against the wall. Max Smith — I’m counting on your for deliverance. Kentucky 24, Kent State 20.
Kevin: All I’m hoping in this game is that we get another play where the Kent State player returns his own punt the wrong direction. Hopefully, Kentucky will have enough sense to not chase him down and tackle him like the guys last week. If Kentucky doesn’t win this game, Joker’s in trouble. Kentucky 27, Kent State 24.
The Cats were beyond disappointed by last week’s loss to the Cardinals. Defensive coordinator Rick Minter compared the team to a prize fighter who had just lost, saying no fighter wants to sit for long after a loss; all he can think about is redemption. It is redemption that will fuel UK to victory Saturday. The offense looks much improved from a year ago, and a shaky defense should feel comfortable against an offense that threw for 166 yards (63 on one pass) and ran for 101 yards against Towson.
Final score: UK 31, Kent State 10.
