Pretty full sports day today with a lot of stuff going on, capped off by the Rondo-led Celtics taking down Noah and the Bulls. Its about time that fool lost to someone from Kentucky. Noah did give Rondo a hard foul and Big Baby got in his face, showing that in the SEC, we all know each other and we will all hurt and love each other at the same time. A couple of notes….
— Eric Bledsoe is on campus tonight and tomorrow for his official visit with UK. Calipari was scheduled to meet with him late Saturday night and it is expected that Bledsoe will make a decision at some point early next week. I have seen a lot of posts tonight asking for an interview of Bledsoe by KSR or another site. First of all, the idea that it would be beneficial to UK to have Bledsoe bothered on his visit by media interviews strikes me as funny. But even if it was a good idea, UK has always asked us (or forbidden us depending on how you look at it) from talking to kids on visits. IF Memphis has different rules, that is fine….but you wont see a Bledsoe interview from any site that wants to keep relations with UK, at least until he is home.
— Lots of former UK players at the track and parties this weekend….ran into Derek Anderson, Travis Ford, Richie Farmer, Allen Edwards and Ron Mercer this weekend. Spoke with all except Travis about Calipari and all gave him the highest praise and most had already spoken to him since taking the job.
— Also saw Billy Clyde on Friday for Oaks day. He looked tan and well rested since the last time I had seen him. We did have somewhat of an awkward interaction, but I root the guy on for going out and taking all in stride. I was told by someone close to the Coach that he believed he was going to get another job this past year and was very surprised when it didnt happen. No one is sure what he will do next, but my guess is that this isnt the last we have seen of him for some time.
— John Wall did not visit NC Central according to a NC newspaper….Bomani and I got in a long telephone fight about whether Wall was becoming somewhat of a diva…you can guess who was on which side. I do want this to end soon….it is taking a silly amount of time and the putting off of narrowing the list seems absurd to me.
— To the guy in the infield who took off his shirt when I walked by and yelled, “KSR makes me so happy I get naked”…..I dont know what that meant but I guess we should say thanks.
Doing my Derby story tomorrow, but back in the groove as the week goes on….oh and thanks to Kige for the tips on avoiding swine flu….you are a sage.
