Saturday Morning Links

We’re just a few short hours away from tipoff with Alabama, so let’s make a quick run through the internet.  Before we do, make sure you appreciate the subtle greatness that is the Tennessee fan and try to figure out if the ones driving this car were a) mentally lacking or b) very congested.

A few notes…

 – The Courier-Journal’s Eric Crawford says that UK let off the gas in the clutch.  I tend to disagree, but I don’t write for the Courier-Journal so it doesn’t matter.

 – The C-J’s basketball notebook takes a look at the altercation between DeAndre Liggins and Reginald Buckner after the game.

 – Gentleman John Clay writes that Kentucky needs more out of Knight and Jones.  Fair point.

 – The Good Doctor Jerry Tipton writes some words about UK, but none more entertaining than “bumping their gums”.  That was the description of Liggins and Buckner’s interaction.

 – Even with some saying they need to win today, the Birmingham News says Alabama should have an NCAA bid locked up, thanks to their SEC play.

 – Despite a lot of rumors, Billy Gillispie is still not talking about the Texas Tech job.  If the Texas Tech job were a 13 year-old boy, that would probably be different.

– Speaking of Gillispie, USC coach Kevin O’Neill got drunk and got into it with some Arizona boosters and fans, earning himself a suspension for the rest of the Pac-10 Tournament.

I hate the Big East. But why does watching a Big East Tourney game look like an NBA game compared to watching an SEC tourney game. It’s not even close. The SEC games have looked like high school games in comparison.

Uk let off the gas the last 12 minutes. Our half court became awful and we quit running. Pass it around the horn and shoot a 3 or step in for an 18 footer so it wont show in the stats as a 3. Very little doing what we did to get the lead. We seem to freeze the last 10 minutes if we have a nice lead. Points in the paint and fast breaks won the game and we quit attempting it the final 12min (again).

Did ND’s choke job cost us a chance at a 3 seed last night?

    I’m betting it did.

so, UK played 3 of the final 4 in the BE tourney and went 2-1 against them?

    I’ll take it.

I’m stuck in God-forsaken ACC country, so from 12 pm – 2 pm EST college lacrosse is being broadcast on ABC here. They will “graciously” join the UK-Bama game after the postgame. Any idea if there are other ways of watching the game on TV or via internet?

I didn’t see the first half (still at work), but I agree with #4. We played tentative in the second half. Ole Miss’ 3/4 court pressure was not much, but no one comes back to help Knight? We had two or three turnovers, burned a time out, and could have threw a couple more away with Knight heaving into the front court to avoid a 5 second violation. That’s taught the first two weeks of middle school roundball…..

No disappearing act by Jones today or we’re toast. Bama’s defense might be the best in the SEC this year. Big Blue is up to the test, but all six need to contribute this afternoon. Again, Miller is the straw that stirs this year’s drink in my opinion. He has the tools, Cal just needs to locate DM’s buttons and PUSH!

Finally, you gotta love Liggins this year. I do!

    GO CATS!

gum bumping ? does that mean they didnt have any teeth ? the only way to bump gums would be to remove ones dentures . last i noticed liggins appears to have a set of natural teeth .

Jones still seemed halfway clueless until he finally found himself in the paint where his most effective game is. Knight was out of control most of the game with the ball. Lamb, Miller and Jorts collectively kept us just ahead of ole miss which is where you have to be to beat them. Liggins- need I even comment?! Vargas and Hood didn’t really hurt us while they were in there which is gonna be critical in every game from here on out. But our total team defense at times was lights out. If we beat ‘bama (which will be another test) I’d rather play Florida than Vandy. Go Big Blue!!!

    6) I don’t see how that will cost us if we take care of business. That game will not affect our RPI at all. Unfortunately I think the filthy Cards are now a 3 working on a 2 seed. BLAHHHHHHH

Crawford is like Tipton; Forde and Bozo’ich. They all look for the negative in a win when they are talking about Kentucky. What seems to happen alot of times is Kentucky will get on a run and the stripes start blowing the whistle and disrupts their play. But, at least we don’t have Burr and Higgins there. Now if we can get Valentine to do something really obvious we could get rid of another incompetent fool that hates Kentucky.

alright if yall picked brandon knight on the question to take the last shot. yall r crazy cuz he has taken the shot like 4 or 5 times wen we were down and hes missed. so i say we would give it to miller, cuz hes 46 percent behind the 3 plus hes got experience.

#16 – Andrew, thanks! I just checked out ESPN3 and they have a banner up saying that the game is available live only on ABC. At least they will have a replay in the morning at 2:30am. If it’s a great game I guess I’ll watch the first half in the morning! Thanks anyway!

I’ll take an “N” for $350 and I’d like to solve the puzzle, Pat.

What should read “AtlaNta or BuRst?”
