Happy 42nd birthday Rik Smits!
One thing we appreciate around here is awkwardness, so it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t kick this Saturday off without a shout-out to Rik Smits, a guy who is to awkward what the bunny is to Easter. One thing we do not celebrate, though, are a** tasters, so we will not be mentioning that Kobe is finally turning 30 today after like 26 seasons in the NBA. Now, onto the links…
– On the day of their final scrimmage, Chip Crosby takes a look at how “green” UK’s wide receivers are. Luckily, there are no pictures of them in overalls and frog giggin’.
– Eric Crawford takes a look at U of L’s receivers. And a minor nerd fight is breaking out in the comments.
– You know, it’s one thing to move the Cats out of Rupp. It’s a whole different story if you’re going to spit on the place.
– Some strange news about UK football commit Kevin Mitchell who said he’ll sign with UK still….unless Georgia offers. They probably won’t, according to Mitchell, but we should all be thankful that he didn’t say “unless I’m an unstoppable beast for the SF Giants on RBI Baseball” because we’d be screwed.

Morgan Newton and his Carmel, Ind. squad is playing at noon on ESPN. And, the event is so big-time, they’re giving the fans breathalyzers as they enter the stadium. Don’t worry, I don’t think they’ll be doing that at Commonwealth this year.
