Ryan Timmons will announce decision on February 5th

According to his Twitter page, Franklin County star Ryan Timmons will announce his college decision on February 5th, one day before National Signing Day. The talented all-purpose back has been high on the Cats’ radar since Stoops and Neal Brown took over and the feeling is mutual. Timmons will visit Ohio State this weekend and Kentucky the weekend after that. Florida is reportedly a new player for Timmons, thanks to Joker Phillips, who recruited him at UK. Currently, he does not have an offer from the Buckeyes or the Gators.

Timmons is ranked the fourth best player in the state and rushed for 1,260 yards, caught 29 balls for 970 yards, and scored 45 touchdowns in his senior year. Timmons speaks highly of Neal Brown, who runs the same offense that Timmons flourished in at Franklin County. He visited Kentucky unofficially back in December and watched game tape with Neal Brown, met with Mark Stoops and attended a basketball game. The Cats are thought to be his leader.

As Neal Brown would say, stay home and be a hero, Ryan.

Since Joker was not good at recruiting top players to UK, why would FL even want to entertain the idea of an offer. I heard a couple months back that he wears OH St gear at home…not looking good for UK unless the knew staff makes the diff.

I’m SICK and TIRED of Joker trying to recruit these kids now that he’s no longer at UK!!! If he gave a flip about theses kids when he was here, then why didn’t they come play for him at UK?

#3 Gimme a break. FL’s lack of fan support at the Sugar Bowl notwithstanding, don’t you think that it is much, much, much easier to recruit a top player to FL than to UK? Are you kidding me? You can dig at Joker all you want, all I’m saying is comparing recruiting to UK vs. recruiting to FL is night and day. Not even comparable.
#4 Too bad. Maybe he did recruit the kids to UK, but they didn’t want to play here and maybe didn’t want to play while he was coach. That really has nothing to do with him recruiting the state of KY now. Now he has a proven product to sell. If you think he’s not a good coach, then fine. He can simply sell the program and if he’s not recruiting WR’s (the position he coaches) then it doesn’t really matter. EVERY COACH recruits their home turf. Joker was here for many years, so let it be. If Stoops proves his worth, then what do you care. He will keep the kids home.

I really hate Ohio State…Im starting to hate them more than Indiana and Louisville. I, along with many UK fans were rooting for Bama last night on Facebook for obvious SEC reasons. A peer of mine (OSU fan) decided to start ragging on UK fans saying we were living in delusion. Um OSU Euckeyes are a bunch of salty 8itches who are just mad their butts were sittin at home with us and not in Miami getn scrubbed by Bama.

6 I don’t think you understood what #3 was saying, based on your comment. He wasn’t comparing recruiting. He was basically saying since Joker didn’t recruit good players here, why would FL want to entertain Joker’s recruiting suggestions. While I don’t agree with the comment, your response was way off base. Settle down, you sound a little angry.

Unfortunately he is being pursued heavily now by OSU. Urban will get him. We needed Quick to choose OSU if we wanted a shot at Timmons.

Let the kid do what he wants. If he comes, great. If not, wish him the best of luck. Can’t blame the kids for wanting to go to the proven winner programs. If that is what they want, then that is what they should do. Timmons would be a good pickup but I doubt he is a program changer. While it’s fun to keep up with recruiting, it’s best to sit back and relax and trust the coach–now that we have one that appears to be competent. Joker Phillips was terrible and I am happy to let him recruit from Florida so long as he no longer is coaching at UK.

#9 Maybe I didn’t understand his comment. But it looks to me like he said Joker didn’t recruit good players to UK. I can buy that. But my point is that part of that, at least part of it, is the fact that he was trying to bring kids into the worst program in the SEC and a downtrodden program for 60+ years (with a very few years being the exception). So yeah, all things being equal, even if Joker is not a good coach and even if he is a below average recruiter, his not being able to bring high level kids to UK means nothing now. Now he actually has something to sell.

#18 he was actually a receiver who was handed the ball. The truth is he didn’t touch the ball very much because there was no need.He scored every 2.3 times he touched the ball.

104 Total Touches for 2,469 yards 45 TDs
    23.75 yds per touch 1 TD/2.3 touches
Again this will be the second year in a row he will lead
the nation in yds per touch but will not qualify because
7 of these 12 games he only played 2 Qtrs and did not get
enough carries.  33.5 Yards Per Catch!!!
Rushes Yards Reception Yards KORyds TD’s TYDS
    4          32        3         132                2     164
    4          44        3         133                4     177
    4          47        4         113                4     160
    5         106       0           0                  3     106
    3         155       4          82      92       7      329
    10       298       1          15                 5      313
    7         28         0           0       94       2      122

    4          62        3          80      82       3      224
    3         100       2        106                 3      206
    7          72        4        102                 1      174

    72      1260      29       970     268      45     2469

Notice that he was only kicked to 3 times and scored on each of them. Kid is a video game player. (got these stats from 11 warrior btw)

3 Because Florida aint UK you f’n moron. They have a better program, tradition, facilities, and their fans don’t suck. Joker will be able to recruit much better players to UF. It’s sad that this has to be explained to a fully functioning adult.

    I apologize if you’re retarded.

Timmons played against inferior talent. Put him up against Trinity and see what would have happened. He broke records against Woodword County. So what! There is a reason why Ohio State has not offered him and the only reason Florida is getting involved is due to the Joker. UK is his backup if Ohio State does not offer him. Not happy with a Kentucky boy that can’t commit to UK. Shows his lack of love for the program.

Khsaa does not list the stats of Franklin County last game against Cooper this past season. If you were at the game, you would have obseverd Cooper shut down Timmons. Quick would have had 5000 yards receiving in Franklin County schedule.

I was at the game, Cooper did work their defense well, but they did not shut down Timmons, Copper’s defensive line over powered the offensive line and did not allow the QB to pass, and they did a great job of it. As I remember Timmons caught a pass in the endzone, and caught it over the top of three Copper players. Copper did win, and they did a great job, but they in no way shut down Timmons.

26 You’re right if Timmons played Trinity he would not have done so hot because he had only 1 other D1 player lining up with him whereas Trinity has them all over the field. Not because he is not every bit as good as Trinity’s players himself. Don’t be ignorant.

27 Cooper shut him down? you do know he had 81 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns receiving right? Cooper won that game at the line of scrimmage

You people who dont want Timmons are just absurd. Guy is absolutely one of the five best players in our state. He clearly has some talent and is an in-state kid. Why would you bag on this kid??? These are EXACTLY the kind of kids we need- Kids who can make plays that fly below the national radar. We have NEVER been able to recruit the top kids, just like Auburn cant recruit against us in basketball.

The whole country knocks Kentucky high school football due to teams running up individual statistics against teams that are inferior. In the Cooper vs. Franklin County game, the wide receiver had 91 total rushing yards, with a net rushing of 81 due to losing yards on plays. He had 11 carries. 1 carry was a TD run of 57. The other 10 combined carries resulted in a total of 24 yards. He had 4 receptions, 1 a 23 yard TD, and the other 3 for a total of 14 yards.

Obviously Ohio State has done their homework and is very observant to KY high school football and how statistics are jacked up.
