I think the terms “garbage” and “odorific” might be a little much to toss at a second-year player playing on a bad ankle, but CBS’ Mike Freeman thinks Rondo is killing the Celtics. I tend to disagree. There’s no question that he’s not having the series of a lifetime, but did we really expect that heading into the Finals? If anyone deserves the blame for (gasp!) not finishing off the Lakers in Game 5 and still only having a 3-2 lead, it’s Kevin Garnett. The guy can’t get to the free throw line to save his life and is about as good under pressure as Jason Biggs in American Pie – and yet no one will ever take him to task for it. It’s because he has so much heart, or so I’ve been told.
Anyway, I think it’s just another slow day (we’re all feeling the pain) and Mike Freeman jumped the gun a bit on this one. If the Lakers grab another win tonight in Boston, then we can start to panic. But, let’s be serious. The Lakers are softer than the Reebok classics and the Celtics will probably be done toying with them tonight. Then, we can all debate about how Joe Crawford’s draft value will soar after the last four out of five NBA Champs had UK players as contributors.
Game time is 9 pm.
