Rodney Purvis to transfer from NC State

According to The Charlotte Observer, Rodney Purvis will transfer from NC State. The point guard averaged 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for the Wolfpack last season. Purvis, considered the best point guard in the 2012 class at the time, was interested in Kentucky until Ryan Harrow decided to transfer in.
Whether or not Cal is interested in bringing Purvis in remains to be seen, but it may be worth noting that Purvis and Julius Randle are best friends. Jeff Goodman is reporting that UConn is expected to be in the mix for his services.

Another NC State PG transfer?!
we’ve tried enough wolfpack transfers, thank you.
that would put us way over salary cap, sorry purvis
Gottfried’s spray tan strikes again.
Wasn’t there an issue between his “mentor” Brian Clifton and Cal? No thanks
A pg with very few assists is not a true PG.
8.3 points, 2.4 rebs, 1.3 assists Purvis 2012-2013 stats
9.3 points, 1.9 rebs, 3.3 assists Harrow 1010-2011 stats
Hmm, I don’t think so…………..
Not sure we need him now. He could be Harrison’s backup. But, what I really wish is that we’d had Purvis at the point last year instead of Harrow; too late you missed your chance Rodney.
8) Harrison will be gone by the time Purvis is eligible
Oh hell no!!!
I’m going to Texas Tech!
We already have the necessary ingredients for domination in 2014. I’ll trust Cal to take care of 2015 and beyond. thanks KSR for letting your readers know who’s out there. Makes for better chit-chat.
nope. Pick up Hawkins as a back up!!!!!
Only if he can’t get Hawkins, I think.
Stop me if I’ve already heard this one…
Not again!!
Didn’t we just have two former NC State guards? Of course Purvis is a different player, but perhaps fate was telling us something.
Get Hawkins on board for this class then go after Mudiay or Jones in the next class. Purvis is a phenomenal player but we are at our limit for scholarships.
No thanks!
And is he transferring because CJ Leslie is going to the draft?
Being a displaced UK fan in Raleigh, I have had the privilege(?) of watching Purvis up close and personal all year. He was actually playing pretty well for NC State as the 2-guard. However, when Lorenzo Brown went down for a few games with a sprained ankle, he assumed the point guard role. He was never the same player and has since transferred. He IS NOT a true point guard.
My money says he goes to U of L and takes over the 2G spot when Russ Smith leaves.
Please no more players from nc state who can’t play…… GO CATS!!
After Harrow and Mays, maybe NC State is UK’s minor league farm system. (Opening day analogy)
We need practice players for next year. He might fit in and help us with the team. Willing to give him a chance.
I love Ryan Harrow as a human being, but please GAWD no more NC State PGs.
He transferred because he was unhappy with averaging 7 attempts per game. Please God don’t let this selfish kid on the roster. He’s not even that good.
Haven’t we learned our lessen about NC State transfers already?
enough with the transfers already
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
1.3 assists is not a point guard…
NEXT
wOOd be fOOlhardy to write this PG “off” just becuz Ryan struggled more than anyone really Xpected….
that said, however, Cal/UK seem 2b in gOOd shape w/some of the TOP PG’s in ’14 prep class???
either way, seems fine (imho)….
butt seemed this PG Purvis was once strongly linked to UofL, too, & w/their recent misfortune re: Ware, along w/Cards fine run (so far) thru the Tourney, seems like Pitino & Co. wOOd be a logical/possible landing place for Purvis, too?
We could use a 3rd string PG
Didn’t pitino run off van treese to get this kid and then pull him back when purvis went to nc state?
Trust me when I say this. NOOOOOOOO. (First hand knowledge)
