    8) How do people like you think it’s all about money? When a coach’s reputation is completely tarnished these are the only jobs they can get. Keep in mind, he couldn’t get the Auburn, UT, or UK job. This is not because of money. It’s because WKU’s and lesser programs are the only ones who will hire the man.

Petrino may not be here long, but Taggart got the program on the rise, if Petrino can keep it going in the right direction for a year or 2 then thats fine. #23 … I heard last week on WHAS that Western was moving to Conference USA. Wasn’t Louisville in Conference USA when Petrino first came to Louisville? So, it appears that Western in on the tract to step up their athletics just like Lousiville has.

The football recruits, the wins, the wins, and the notoriety of Western Football and Petrino just got big. This is a win-win for both. Petrino will get his name back and get a chance to re-establish himself. Western will get a bit more national prominence and attention and will move to a bigger and better conference.

When Petrino leaves in a couple of years, Western will be a big step above where it is now.

Im a UK season ticket holder, and I am optimistic for Stoops, but his job just got tougher. Now he has to compete, not to just beat Louisville, but to Not be the third team in the State…

If Stoops comes out and proves that he can do better than 500 at UK he will be out the door and on to bigger and better things before fans even realize it happened. So what if Petrino doesn’t stay long. At this point, the program is going in the right direction and it was important to hire someone who keeps the program moving in that direction. Even if it’s just temporary. Great hire, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Hey guy, KY is in the SEC! He wouldn’t leave if he wins a NC!

Stoops wants to build his own legacy like Bear Bryant, not follow in someone else’s footsteps! The main reason why UK will never be a stepping stone like UL is that we are in the SEC! If Stoops wins you can bet we will be adding 30,000+ seats in Commonwealth.

Something that KY has that not many fanbases have is Passion! You cant buy that or win it over, either you have it or you dont! Stoops wins big at KY we can fill Commonwealth with 100,000+ every weekend!

I don’t understand the idiotic sentiments coming from some of you folks…The fact that you would want to, under any circumstances, be associated with scum like Bobby Petrino is beyond me. He’s going to go to WKU, maybe stay two years tops, and then he’ll move on. That’s assuming he will be able to win there, which we don’t know. The fact is, his reputation has been crushed in the public’s eye, and he definitely won’t be bringing in 4 and 5 star recruits to play at WKU.

I honestly don’t know what Stoops has to do to win over the approval of some asinine fans. He’s totally changed the culture of UK football in a matter of a week and a half. He’s hired a great, young coaching staff that is not only poised to play hard-nosed, SEC defense, but also provide a high-flying, throw-it-around offense. It’s everything Kentucky fans have always said they wanted. But, my god, since Mitch Barnhart made the hire, you’re going to bitch and moan. Some of you NEED something to complain about…Really, it must be miserable to live your lives. I’d rather have Mark Stoops 10 times over before I’d take Bobby Petrino.

People, people, people. Calm down. Petrino will be there 3 years, tops. He’s a desperate guy trying to prove his chops as a quality head coach and if that means going to Western for a minute, that’s what he’s going to do. And Western knows this, too. This is a huge publicity stunt for them and a chance to get national exposure. Plus, he probably will leave the program in better shape than when he gets there. It’s a win-win. It has NOTHING to do with the fortunes of UK. 4 and 5 star players are NOT going to WKU no matter who’s coaching there. These guys are NOT going to the Sun Belt and play in 17,000 seat stadiums when they can go to SEC schools, and dare I say UK, and play in front of 70,000 plus. 4 days ago, a lot of you jackasses were hailing Stoops as the next great thing and now you’re comparing him to Billy Clyde because Western hires a coach turned down by every upper echelon school in division 1? If Auburn had hired him, would you have said “well, that’s it for Saban?” You people are ridiculous. Good luck to Western……except when they play UK. We’ll watch and see if Mark Stoops can get this program going in the right direction, and the REAL fans will show up on Saturday’s. You Petrino supporters seem to think you matter to UK football. You don’t. We don’t want your opinions. We don’t want you even wearing blue in public. And your certainly not welcome back when we see this football program around.

For all you petrino loving nay Sayers. What if UK (with an air raid and tougher defense) comes out and shreds WKU 70-0. What then. Will you just say its only because its just WKU. Remember petrino brings a radical style change with quite a few seniors leaving the program. He may win alot at WKU but there is no guarantee it happens next year. And WKU is still in the sun belt and lacking top notch facilities. So go back into your dooms day bunkers and wait for the 22nd to come.

We as UK fans need to realize that our football team is not the basketball team. This is not going to be fixed over night. Just look at next year’s schedule at home… Alabama, Louisville, Florida. Next year is no cupcake year. That will not change my view that we made a great hire with a great supporting cast.

Let the coaching staff coach a game before you start bashing them, or saying that western is about to be the next Boise. I was personally for a Petrino hire, but am now pretty pumped about the coaching staff that we have put together. At least give them a chance to prove themselves before you start calling for their heads.

Congrats to Western, I am happy that they are trying to build something. But be excited about what we have. We have a great offensive coordinator, we have a head coach who has a great defensive mind, and we have guys who will be able to recruit. Give these guys a chance!

Whatever Petrino is, he has proven time and again that he can’t be trusted. I wouldn’t want Petrino anywhere near UK at this point. No matter what he might accomplish at any school, he will most assuredly leave in the wake of some sort of bizarre PR explosion, just as they think they are improving. He’s looking to prove his chops, and WKU is looking for the quick hit uptick in its status.

The ONLY reason he is at WKU is because no other BCS school was willing to take a chance. This is the coaching equivalent of a one-night stand, and everybody involved knows it. Fine, if that’s what WKU wants. It’s their choice and all. But they better hope they don’t wake up the next morning with an STD.

We’ve got some key pieces of the puzzle to compete in the SEC and I feel we will do just that once players get adjusted to the new systems. BP will be gone in 2 yrs if not before then, and WKU WILL benefit from this hire because any kind of publicity is better than none, but I still like who we have and what I think we can be. And you guys wonder why the other SEC fan bases and Louisville make fun of you guys when you talk football.

Bret Bielema has won 3 Big Ten titles and made 3 Rose Bowls appearances in a row at Wisconsin. I don’t give two you know whats about the talk that goes something like “oh you know its the Big Ten” and “oh my god the competition doesn’t even match up to the SEC” blah blah blah…winning 3 Big Ten titles and going to the Rose Bowl three times matters versus a guy that hasn’t been a head coach for even 1 minute…experience matters…and any other non-UK homer here who has worked in the real world will tell you the same thing.

Now this has no bearing on who will be most successful. I happen to think this move wasn’t the best for Bielema. For that matter, I happen to think UK made a great hire considering what they could get…but it wasn’t the best–by a long shot.

    1) UK fans can’t bash his morals. Off field terrible, on the field, he has never had any NCAA troubles! (Cough cough…Coach Cal)

    2) It must be snowing crystal meth in Lexington if you think the Stoops hire is gonna make UK football a powerhouse! They may do better than 2 wins, they may even beat WKU but its not gonna be as easy as everyone is making it out to be! Tops have a lot returning and a lot of talent that has yet to play like Demarcus Smith!

    3) and lastly, for those that keep saying “he’ll be gone in a year”….who cares! We get a winning season for a year out of him and keep our program going in the right direction. If I’m not mistaken your basketball players seem to have a similar philosophy of 1 year and then off to bigger and better things. And as a fan you don’t care as long as you get your wins!

All in all, it was a good hire and I can’t wait to read the “we shoulda hired petrino” comments next August! Have fun bowling at Jimbo’s Lanes while the Tops are playing in Detroit come Dec. 26th
