Report: Former Cats John Schlarman and Chad Scott will join Stoops’ staff

The news keeps rolling in regarding Mark Stoops’ staff. WKYT is reporting that former Cats John Schlarman and Chad Scott will join Stoops at UK. Schlarman will be the offensive line coach and Scott will be responsible for the running back corps. Schlarman has been an assistant coach at Troy for the last six years and Scott coached running backs on Tommy Tuberville’s staff for the last two years. Great to see former Cats coming back home.

#3 Rock will be with basketball and other sports, not football. Talked with Bud Dupree Friday and he confirmed that.

What is with all this BS on the boards tonight? Between these few comments to the ones on the Neil Brown post, there has been the biggest group of young immature kids or people tryn and failing miserably at what may be humor? I don’t know? I am 100% thrilled to have Coach Stoops and all the coaches he has hired or will be hired as a part of BBN! For the rest of the idoits on here: Go find another team and f^&k off! GO CATS!!!

I have noticed that UL has started advertising on KSR, it must be from the #Stoops effect.

Like someone said on the other thread, Texas Tech boards are thrilled to get rid of Brown. I have read many comments in the last week and it seems like Brown got most of the blame. Never Tubberville nor the Defensive Coordinator. TT scored plenty of points but the defense was awful and that was the main reason they lost 2-3 games. Brown was a easy target given the fact he followed Leach. Texas Tech had an awful defense under Leach too but they scored a few more points. In Leach’s best year he only scored 6 points per game more than Brown. TT fans are delusional. Brown did a very good job. The problems for TT weren’t offense related. They scored 37.8pts per game. The least they scored this year was 20 points. I can live with that.

John Schlarman is one of my all time favorite football Cats and I had completely forgotten what had happened to him after he did a stint as a High School coach in Northern Kentucky somewhere. Glad to see he has reappeared.

Thank god Stoops is not bringing back any of our former coaches… I said all along that I wanted to clean house. Joker and all of his dummies!!! I’d like to send out a big F u to joker and his staff. Thx for letting us become the laughing stock of the sec and the entire country. I hope sanders and especially RICK MINTER never find jobs in college football again. (Worthless pieces of shit) Minter is a dumbass clueless asshole and I hope he goes completely bankrupt and ends up a bum on the streets begging for a nickel.

HUGE hire tonight with by Stoops to get Neal Brown and John Schlarman. Schlarman was an All-SEC lineman at UK, and has been absolutely killing it at Troy with the talent that isn’t plucked by Auburn/Alabama first…. Anyone who is a hater tonight doesn’t know the college landscape and can certainly go root for another team. This is the best staff UK has put together in over 50 years.

25- Schlarman has not been killing it with the talent that isn’t plucked by Bama/Auburn. Their 10 man class consists of (8) 2 star players and (2) 0 star players. We should have kept Summers who is a better coach and recruiter. I am still happy with the overall staff so far though.

    31. Do you expect 4 star talent to go to Troy?

  33. kydenman
    5:15 am December 10, 2012 Permalink

@#20 This was prob a package deal in order to get neal brown, brown prob wanted these guys or it wasnt a deal…..offensive co-ordinators usually get to pick some of the assistants on the offensive side of the ball.

I like schlarman, but I hate that we didnt retain summers, has a rep for being a great oline coach and recruiter.

My vote would have been for Summers as well, but in Stoops we trust.

I agree with @33, defiantly a package deal. If that’s what it took to get Brown here I’m completely fine with that. My only concern with Brown’s “Air Raid” Offensive is time of possession. Browns whole philosophy on offensive is to score quick. Consequently our defense is going remain on field longer. To be successful in the SEC you have to control the clock example: Alabama ranks 15th in the nation on TOP, LSU ranks 25th in the nation on TOP. What happens when we play a team like Alabama or LSU, where their offense keeps our defense on the field while our offense is off the field and can’t score? Don’t get me wrong I’m more than thrilled with this coaching staff, I’m just trying to play devils advocate.

    8:18 am December 10, 2012 Permalink

32- No I don’t expect 4 star talent at Troy, I was just saying that Schlarman isn’t killing it with the players Bama and Auburn don’t get as an earlier poster said.

#23 jokers not your ex-wife your not allowed to hate him unless his name sounds like STEVE SPURRIER joker was calling plays that would have worked if he had equal talent . Hopefully the talent level will rise. We have some now just not a roster full

I was kind of hoping that there would be no UK connections on this staff. Hasn’t worked in the past. Kentucky is not a hotbed of up-and-comers. With Texas Tech fans glad to get rid of Brown, hope that’s just sour grapes. Tennessee was glad to get rid of Sanders too and we see how far that got us.

Why do so many want summers to remain? Our OL play has been terrible the last 3 years. Probably been the biggest problem we have had(4 QB hurt last year.) some say he was a good recruiter really?? We have been recruiting against MAC teams. Let him go he might be Joe B’s son- in – law but he DID NOT do a good job at UK.

@37. Schlarman is one hell of a coach and even better person. He didn’t have the top talent at Troy but made the O Line into a hell of a crew. I would choose Schlarman over Summers any day. This is just one of the great pieces coming to UK. This offense should be exciting to watch. Can’t wait for UK football. GO CATS
