Remember six months ago, when the Indiana University basketball team was on top of the world, flying high behind the play of super-freshman Eric Gordon?
Remember when they were rising in the polls, even after Gordon was injured, and allowed themselves to be carried by a seemingly unstoppable D.J. White?
Remember when our Wildcats traveled north to Bloomington, and were greeted with an angry bunch of Hoosiers, who sufficiently throttled the disoriented UK squad amidst taunts of “Jor-dan’s bet-ter?”
If you do, than I have some news for you….
IU freshman center Eli Holman told IU coach Tom Crean he did not want to return to the team next year. Crean said the conversation was cordial, but it did not end that way.
The IU Police Department was dispatched to Assembly Hall at 3:40 p.m. (Thursday) after a man threw a potted plant in the men’s basketball office, IUPD Spokesman Jerry Minger said, reading from a police report.
No arrests were made. Crean said: “I do not anticipate he will return to the team.” (via IDS News BasketBlog)
I never really had much reason to despise IU, until their recent success and subsequent downfall. It didn’t help the cause that I was an unabashed UK supporter and IU student. Watching them unravel is quite joyous.
I’d like to be clear in stating that I wish the best for Eli Holman, and I don’t find humor in any troubles, if they exist, that he is personally experiencing. I’m merely rejoicing the fact that IU is finally having to lay in the bed that they have made for themselves.
I hope the Hoosiers enjoy their free-fall to mediocrity.
