Reese Kemp receives key to the city of Nicholasville

Reese and Referee Guy after receiving his key to the city

By now, you’ve heard the story of Reese Kemp, a 16-year-old UK fan diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and diabetes. Kemp has dedicated his life to giving back to others in need, and in the process, has made some pretty cool friends. On Reese’s contacts list? John Wall, Terrence Jones, and Nerlens Noel, who regularly check in to see how he’s doing. Nerlens and Reese are so tight that they rode go-karts together before the season began (a pretty awesome mental image if you ask me).

The Herald-Leader’s John Clay has a wonderful profile of Reese that I suggest you read, especially because today, Reese Kemp received a key to the city of Nicholasville. It’s a small token for a kid who could teach us all a thing or two about what’s important in life.

When some of us are worried about making it to the dance, we seem to forget about what dance is really important. God Bless!

That kid sure doesn’t look 16.

God bless him, my nephew has the same disease and it is a horrible thing to have to endure.
