Are you anxiously awaiting tonight’s basketball games? You can get a jump start on some March Madness by watching the high school basketball equivalent on ESPN today at 1:30pm. Last year’s national champion, Findlay Prep, is trying to repeat this year but they’ve got a tough task ahead of them with #1 seed Montverde. Findlay only has two losses on the entire season and one of those losses came to…guess who? Montverde. The game will also work as yet another chance to get a good look at UK recruits playing for Findlay Prep, which includes Nick Johnson, Winston Shepard and Cory Joseph (who had 32 points in their semifinal win).
Montverde has 5 players on their team that have signed with division one schools, including James Bell (Villanova) and Jamail Jones (Marquette). This is the equivalent of the NCAA championship for high school basketball, so the kids should come ready to play. Can Findlay win their second national title in their very short history?
UPDATE: Findlay Prep repeats as national champs, 59-46. Cory Joseph had 17 for the Pilots, Tristan Thompson was definitely something to watch. He’s a big time talent. Nick Johnson did absolutely everything from pushing in transition, scoring at the rim, defending, rebounding and knocking down some deep threes. He keeps improving.
