Well you may need to be. Because it is looking more and more like Kentucky may be close to a commitment from Texas JUCO star Roderick Flemings. Roderick, who was a first team JUCO All-American this year is potentially the most talented offensive player that Kentucky could look to get at this point in the process, averaging 20 points a game this season. Jody Demling is reporting that his coach essentially believes that Kentucky will be the final destination for Roderick’s services and that he could even commit without a visit.
So should you be happy with this news? I would give it a timid yes. There is no doubt that Flemings is a big-time player. He played a little for Oklahoma State his Freshman year, but never really got a chance to showcase his abilities. On the court, he has the potential to be the scorer that UK needs. Now the bad news….it isnt clear that he will qualify. His coach says he just has to “take care of some business” in order to get eligible, and that is true. But from what I have heard that business is more than just a “little bit” as some have suggested. Having said that, the UK coaches seem confident he can do it and the optimist suggests that Cat fans should have a positive outlook on the subject.
Flemings could make a decision any time….be watching, because it will be big news if/when it happens…..
