I like this picture because it showcases the scene in Syracuse for the Regional game last weekend. In this picture you can see a lot of the national folks (Decourcey, Thamel, Mandel, Reilly, Carleismo, Bilas and Enberg), local guys (Bozich, Cutler, Clay, Leach and Pratt) and me not paying attention. It is a great picture.
— Tonight is the McDonalds All American game which has numerous Kentucky recruits in one place at one time. Tonight is your chance to see Brandon Knight, Terrence Jones, Josh Selby, Doron Lamb and CJ Leslie, all in one place on one court. There is a decent chance that anywhere from 2-4 of those players could be wearing the Blue and White next year so the game, which starts at 8 pm, really is a cant miss affair.
— Today it was reaffirmed that CJ Leslie will decide on April 17, three days after Brandon Knight. Gonna be quite a couple of days in Big Blue Land.
— It looks as if the report from Twitter last night by another site on Brandon Knight committing was premature at best. I will say this about the next few weeeks. You are going to hear a LOT of “its a done deal” type posts, tweets, sources, friends, neighbors, etc. Generally speaking, I would say that you should not only take all with a grain of salt, you should ignore almost all of them. There are a lot of major sites, from Rivals to Scout, to the newspapers, to the recruiting gurus to this site, etc, all of whom have a vested interest in “breaking” the story. If none of them do it, then chances are there is nothing to break. Knight likely ends up at UK, but the individual that sent out the Tweet has already recanted and taken it off his page. It should have been ignored to begin with and is a good lesson for the craziness of the next few weeks.
— Jody Demling reported today on a new recruit Kiel Turpin, a JUCO kid that is the son of “Dinner Bell” Mel Turpin. He has finished one year of JUCO and his team won the national championship in its division. He is hearing from lots of schools, including UK and is now seeking to try and get himself eligible for next year (he originally was going to do one more year of JUCO). Kentucky has not offered, but Turpin’s son is interested and the two parties are talking. Also interesting is that he is 7 feet tall, 210 pounds. Not like father, like son.
— Finally, we hope to have some of the departing players on the podcast, starting with the Seniors in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for what should be some interesting conversations.
McDonalds game coming…make sure and watch
