Randall Cobb got a care package from Mark Stoops too

Screen shot 2013-08-14 at 4.18.57 PM

Earlier today, former UK offensive lineman Matt Smith posted a picture of a package he got from Mark Stoops on Twitter. It looks like he wasn’t the only one to get some #LaFootballFamilia love. Randall Cobb also got a package from Stoops, and posted the picture above on Instagram, with the caption “Thanks to @ukcoachstoops & @ukfootball for the camp care package! Looking forward to watching this season! #BBN #LaFamilia.”

Cobb’s been nursing a minor bicep injury during training camp and may not play in the Packers’ upcoming exhibition game against St. Louis. Mike McCarthy insists the injury isn’t serious, but the staff wants to rest Cobb just in case.

Keeping former players is not only sweet, it’s incredibly smart. Please wear that UK gear everywhere, Goldeneyes, and get well soon.

As a former UK Football Player (a.k.a. a complete nobody), it is really awesome seeing Stoops reach out to former program standouts and get them excited about their alma mater. UK Football has never had a great history of having ex-players around the program and stories like these really show how good of a direction this current coaching staff are moving us as a program, as a team and as a fanbase.

Great times in Lexington for sure…

I’ll never forget that run Cobb broke off in Auburn’s ass. Miss seeing that guy in a UK uniform.

Sure you can give him gifts, just don’t give him the ball in crunch time with the game on the line.

Really cool seeing the UK gear against the backdrop of the Green Bay locker. Tells a story of where we want to be as a team.

I needed a good laugh today, as much as I liked joker I will never understand the reasoning behind taking the ball out of Cobbbs hands during crunch time in a game where he got whatever he wanted when he touched the ball

#10 that Tennessee game still pisses me off. How did Cobb not get the ball on that third down late in the fourth?

Yea, there were a number of games where Cobb should have gotten the ball more. That UT game was the worst. I believe Joker had Newton run the end around on both third and fourth down (or was there a missed Seiber field goal on 4th down?), after Cobb was getting anything he wanted. Same thing happened in the South Carolina game and maybe one of the Miss St games.
