The (say it with me) Always Well Dressed Chip Cosby reports that Randall Cobb was selected as a Second Team All-American as an All-Purpose Player by Athlon’s College Football Preview. All-Purpose Player may be appropriate for Cobb, but I would suggest it doesn’t say enough. This type of award should come as no surprise to anyone who saw any Kentucky games last year, as it was increasingly apparent that if anyone was going to do anything, it would be Randall Cobb. I half expected him to be announced the head coach for this year, but then he wouldn’t have been able to return kicks, punts, catch passes, throw passes, run the ball, kick extra points, sack quarterbacks, eat 13 hot dogs, lay down the beats at the club, and tweet about philosophy all in the same play.
He was also named first team All-SEC by the AP and ESPN. We have known since his first spring practices that Randall Cobb is the real deal. With a little pre-season hype and the opportunity to lead Operation Win through the SEC this year, it’s about time the rest of the nation gets to know the Legend of Cobb as well.
