I watched this happen. I have to wonder, at what point is it considered traveling while you roll on the ground? I know the league loves Lebron and allows his six step crab dribble, but Josh Smith was rolling everywhere on the ground with no travel call. If that OR the jump ball were called (both blown calls), Rondo would not have had a chance for this.

refs had missed like 3 calls in a row and Rondo let his emotions get the best of him, having said that, just cant bump a ref. Boston is crazy for hanging on to the old big three, they ran out of gas 2 years ago.

Really dumb move by Rondo. Traveling or not you can’t resort to getting physical with a ref. Costly mistake, indeed.

Rondo should keep his cool, but that really was the second bad call in a row from the same ref – he could have called like 3 jump balls on that play and two possessions before, Atlanta hit the ball out and he called it out on Rondo. Rondo was already pissed.

The link below shows a better angle. While I do believe Rondo did stick his chest out, he clearly tripped over the ref’s foot which initially made him go into him.

    9. Let me clarify…..I do believe he meant to get into the refs face…..and possibly make contact………..but I do believe by tripping (it clearly shows he did in the video I posted), it caused him to bump him harder than he planned.

Should Rondo have bumped into the ref, no, But should he be suspended, no way. The league needs to look at these clowns they call refs too.

C’mon guys, the ref stopped and Rondo’s momentum clearly carried him into the official.

Rondo totally bumped him intentionally…and got what he deserved, ejection. In fact, he knew the game was over at that point and wanted to send a message. Unfortunately, he may get suspended for a game. If he does….then THAT is the real travesty of the whole thing. No way a suspension is warrented.

hey, im as big a rondo fan as anyone…..but guys, guys guys, he meant to bump the ref, he bumped the ref, and you just cant do it. I hope the league gives him some slack, but I bet they make him sit at least 1 game.

If he has to sit out a whole game for this bump, the World Peace better get suspended more than 7 freaking games.

He may have tripped, but it sure looks as though he intended to bump the ref. Why did he puff it chest out? He knows the rules regardless of how bad the officiating is, and now he will have to pay. If these players made $75,000 dollars per year, you wouldn’t see this nonsense. The only way you control todays players is to suspend them for a long periods of time so that it really costs them big time. They just don’t get it. This is the one negative of players leaving early to the NBA. These men need to grow up, but some wouldn’t grow up if they stayed in college twenty years. The NBA is a total disgace. If my son acted like some of these village idiots, I would disown him. Just a bunch of punks and thugs. Now, I know some on here with blue tinted glasses will wholeheartedly disagree.

8 – You’re right! Rondo clearly tripped over the ref’s foot and fell forward. Definitely not an intentional chest bump!

Totally agree with #2 and #6, but they have to make him sit out a game. I love the guy but you can’t touch a ref.
