Its late again, so I gotta do this quick….
— The football team is trying to get a blackout going for this Saturday’s game. As we talked about earlier, getting the word out is part 1. The big question however is whether the team will come out dressed in black. The players want to, but the coaches arent showing their hands. We shall see.
— The injuries continue to mount up for the football Cats as well. Both Micah and Trevard are listed as doubtful at this point for Saturday’s game. Micah has an isolated MCL tear, which will hopefully only keep him out a short time, if at all. Who would have thought that UK’s defense would still be playing well when the three guys that everyone thought would be the anchors, Jarmon, Lindley and Micah, have missed all or part of the season? Shows the grit of this group.
— The basketball team is getting ready for Blue-White, and working out hard this week. Everyone I talk to continues to bring up Darius Miller as the revelation, week in and week out. He is running the point for the 2nd team in practice half the time and then playing the wing with the first team the other half. And in all aspects, he impresses. The coaches are VERY high on him right now.
— Calipari was quoted on his website today as saying that “Patrick Patterson is playing better than I have ever seen him right now.” I want you to think about Patrick and his career at UK. If that statement is true, how excited can you be about this coming year?
— Not a huge shocker news wise, but I am hearing that it is very likely that a semi-regular series with Notre Dame is likely in the basketball world. The thought is to play Notre Dame every other season, while potentially adding another local team (West Virginia and Cincinnati are names I heard in the past) as the other team in the alternate years. While the second team is still up in the air, I expect Notre Dame to find its way on the schedule next year and for the final 14 years of Luke Harangody’s career.
— NBA Season starts tonight and lots of Cats grace NBA rosters. The list is:
Tayshaun Prince — Pistons
Rajon Rondo — Celtics
Nazr Mohammed — Bobcats
Jamal Magloire — Heat
Keith Bogans — Spurs
Chuck Hayes — Rockets
Kelenna Azubuike — Warriors
Randolph Morris — Hawks
Jodie Meeks — Bucks
That list will get a lot larger next season.
— We are seven days from a political announcement that will shock the world and will show the power of KSR…be ready.
— Also after much discussion, we have decided to restart the Kentucky Sports Radio podcast series. Harkening back to our original days on KSR, this series will include a weekly podcast discussing the world of UK sports, with me, Beisner, Drew, Turkey Hunter, Tomlin, Hubby, Dustin, Fake Gimel and others in a rotating show. Our famous friends will stop by from time to time and former players like our man Woo (who is back in Lexington) will also be a part. We hope to tape episode one this weekend. So be looking for more information.
I am on the road today, but we have a lot coming on the site. There will be news from the Blue White game upcoming (including potential rosters), any recruiting news from the Payne camp and Tuesday night will see the winners of the Blogger contest selected after their final entries are put forth. It is a big day, so stay tuned.
